I'm not saying he's a bad GM, just overrated. He's worshipped like this guy who's actually built a winner out of nothing when he was basically handed the keys to a Ferrari that just needed a new set of wheels.

Ya, id be pretty happy with that - neem55
heck, if Virtanen fetched a similar haul to what Bennett got, this place would the the happiest it has been in the last 7 years. |

Zadina and bertuzzi aren't the long term plan for the first line. Maybe zsdina, not bertuzzi. I like Vranas chances of playing way more minutes on that team. I'll be buying on him in my hockey pools - neem55
Bertuzzi's been their best player next to Larkin for 3 seasons - he is every bit in their plan for the first line. I don't know where you came up with that logic?
And a heads up, No one cares about your hockey pool other than you. Every time you mention it to someone in the future from this day forward, remind yourself "they don't care" try whispering it. |

Jim is more Houdini than Jehovah. Sure he can get out of a trunk at the bottom of a pool while having his hands tied behind his back. He just can’t walk to the edge to get out. |

Yzerman was hired as Detroit GM April 2019. How long does he get to prove the hype or justify the attention? |

JB's done nothing in his tenure as Canuck GM yet Nucker ready to drop to his knees to give him a fan appreciation award.
Let's see if Yzerman gets the same length of rope that JB gets. |

None of the guys in charge have taken a steaming pile and turned it into champion.
If he’s over rated it’s by people who don’t know. I bet his peers have a high opinion of him and his body of work. |

He basically has a clean sate to work with which is a dream for a GM, only Larkin(their best player) and Panik(who he acquired today) are signed for multiple years after this.
I'd say give him another 3 years or so, if the Wings aren't on a clear upward rise by that point then you're looking at a potentially Edmonton(pre McJesus) or Buffalo situation where losing/tanking culture has ruined the organization. |

Ive won my dynasty pool the last three years running by predicting player upswings, no one is always right but i tend to do alright. Looking forward to how this one plays out i time, i certainly be keeping tabs. Bertuzzi is a first line player on exactly one team, and thats the team with the worst top6 in the league. |

He is going to be intentionally bad until Shane Wright and Connor Bedard have been drafted because he hasn't been gifted talent like he was in TB. |

Really?
That's the point. Nucker clearly stated he was handed the keys to a Ferrari and he reaped the rewards. In Detroit, Yzerman is starting from scratch. How much time does he get to prove he deserves the hype? |

I'm not saying Benning is some elite GM or was amazing today, he did what he could with what he had to work with today. No one wanted Sutter. He found a buyer for Benn which was a nice little surprise. Got Bowey for basically nothing, might have upside as a #6 dman, can be exposed to Seattle. Gaudette was terrible this year and he got a decent energy 4th liner for him, who's scouting profile sounds similar to a Motte type.

Starting from scratch is a way better position than getting handed the keys to a team full of overpaid washed up vets full of NTC's with a hands-on owner watching over your shoulder. |

He did what he had to. Now they don’t have to expose Myers.
If only he could have picked up a third goalie so they don’t have to risk Holtby. |

las vegas odds at the moment:
1) green extension - 3 to 1 no extension
2) benning firing - 3 to 2 he gets canned - RealityChecker
If they were serious about extending Green, it would have been done by now.
I don't think Benning gets fired, as much as it is desperately needed. |
