Especially the Minneapolis cop who 'mistook gun for Taser'

Are you kidding me? Who trains these idiots? or are they just not very smart?

Congrats Lefty. Well done. I was wondering when you would make the jump to full time down south. With the housing prices in the lower mainland and island you’d be crazy not to sell and cash out. Your dollars will probably go a lot farther in Arizona than it would in BC.

What you going to do with the boat?

Sold it in one day for 7K more than I paid for it

Good morning fellas - what's shakin? Wow our family's lives got turned upside down mid March, in a good way, haven't watched a full NHL game as I kinda lost interest with this f**ked up season and I've decided I will no longer cheer for the Canucks franchise as long as Aquilini and Benning are in charge of the team.

FYI...our immigration status came through for the USA so we sat down as a family and decided to sell our house in Victoria and permanently move down to our cherished gated community (for Marwood ) in Scottsdale.

Still in the house until the end of May, but it's sold, so we're just preparing for the move down south. Can't believe the stupid prices people are willing to pay, it's ridiculous, but we're not complaining....great time to sell!!

- DraftandDestroy

I was getting worried about you, glad is all well.
Since you are no longer a Canuck fan and are becoming an American, we have no reson to talk anymore. Good luck.

All the best in your relocation. Hopefully the Coyotes don't get moved on you.
Hopefully you will at least be posting in here.

My mom sent me a link to a house that sold two doors down from them in North Van last month for 2.5 mil. I think they paid like 800k for it a decade ago.

Crazy times.

How'd you find the immigration system? It was such a pain for me, and also very expensive.

The Canuck franchise is an embarrassment. No wonder you're leaving the country.

Houses selling for over $1 million in Cumberland!

They are. The last townhouse that sold in our complex sold for 700k(a corner unit just went for 790). Unfortunately if we sell our house we would not be able to upgrade to a house. Just shows that house prices are insane, and you have to wonder how people are affording these mortgages.
- Retinalz

It’s not about affording, it’s about how much is the monthly payment. People can tolerate a $3k - $4k a monthly housing payment. Problem is, when those variable rates go up (and they will) there’s going to be many people who won’t survive financially.

BS excuses, even from her boss. They are all trying to cover their asses. Cops must hate body cam's, makes it tougher to cover up their crimes and incompetence like the good ol days.

It's really crazy, I'm not sure it's sustainable. A couple from Vancouver bought our house without ever setting foot in it. Someone did a video call with them and they walked through it virtually....made a ridiculous offer with no conditions - none

Yeah, I’d love to take advantage of the prices, but I’m not moving to Winnipeg to realize a financial benefit. Just going to hold tight until we are ready to retire like the Lefty’s (just not to the US, we’ll go full commie)

Sooooooooooo much paperwork and preparation, we hired an immigration attorney to do the heavy lifting for us but they want to know every detail of your life. You prep hard for an in-person interview and it only lasts ten minutes

Same thing is happening here. Places selling $250 000-$300 000 over asking, no conditions. The village has gone from loggers & hippies to hipster tech pillow-biters.

Maybe you could just E transfer that 200$ for makita, myself and vintsy to go to get Japanese food?

In all seriousness, congrats on the move!

Yup. Have to hire a lawyer, no other way around it. Ended up costing me about 6k for the first one, 5k for the second (each last 3 years).

Had to put together my entire 10+ year art/exhibition history and detail a paragraph about the prestige of each gallery, put together the same thing but for every article/interview/publication I've been in, get images/promos for every single one of those, have a CV written on top of all that that includes them all, 8 letters of rec, and a 3 year outline of all the shows and commissions I'll have with letters from galleries backing that up.

Was like 160 pages. Took months to put together. Thankfully I didn't have to do an interview though!

I'm hoping to move to Berlin, and while the immigration there is similar for requirements, all-in-all it would cost about 300 euros for the visa.
