I could see Toronto choking in the first round because this is Toronto, but mtl has been below average for a while
Their red hot start is the only reason why they are ahead of Calgary and Vancouver right now
Those 2 teams have horrible seasons - deadpoulet
I wouldn't count Montreal out in that division. I think they've got a playoff built team. Going to be a fun playoffs! |

That's the only worry with Colorado. They should have did all they could to get a goalie in the prior off-season. It sunk them last playoffs. |

No clue why they didn’t target Bernier instead. |

It's Monday and we have Quarter End meetings. I guess that would make things a little more interesting.

well looking at the standings, all those teams are close
I think you guys could get out of your division and then who knows? I think the North division is weaker and that could be a third round match up
But you are in a good division to start with, yes
I just think there are a few legit teams to win it this year - deadpoulet
I definitely agree with that. I do think the Pens could find their way out of their division and anything could have in the conference finals, but the Pens are also 1-10 in their last 11 playoff games so.... there's that. |

I think Tampa if Kucherov comes back at full strength are the far away favorites. Carolina on paper is super strong but I think they are beatable.
Colorado is the big wildcard for me. Is their goaltending good enough? When games get tight will their O still fly or will their young D get exposed?
Teams I worry about most are Washington, Boston and Montreal. I think Montreal is playing half ass right now but if they pull it together and Price is hot they could make a run.
Toronto has super high end talent but goaltending and D depth will burn them. Edmonton same story. - MacPatty

Yea probably would have been a better play. But if I was them I would have got on it before this season started. |

I wouldn’t worry about meeting the condition. - Feds91Stammer
I was hoping the condition would be the Pens don't give up a 3rd unless they make the Finals or something like that. |

I'm just feeling different about this team. Could they go out in the first? 100%, but you'd have to be blind to see that this year's team just plays differently. Could they start looking like they're mailing it like the last two years? Sure, but they just seem to have a different energy this year.
I most worry about Boston and Carolina. As bad as Boston is right now, they're injured and will get healthy. They're similar to NJ in the respect that no matter what the Pens seem to struggle against the way they play.
Tampa should scare me, but they don't completely. I easily see six to seven games, but stylistically I think the Pens match up better with them than Carolina who's just a systematic beast of a machine. |

Right, it is definitely possible to make the Finals without facing a top team the way the set-up is. More likely would need to win an upset in the 3rd round.
Pens need to prove they won't flame out early first. |
