Two young prospects for a guy that’s not in Chicago’s future - paulr
One young prospect. The other guy is minor league roster filler. Rolston was the guy they wanted if I had to guess. |

Traded a 5th with Bowey to get the 4th - ikeane
They didn't need him as expansion draft fodder anymore. Looks like de Haan will fill that role. |

I got a little excited there before I read the rest of it, forgive me. - 333inthe3rd
Ever since he was drafted before Michael Jordan he has not lived up to his potential. |

Nick DeSimone... Wasn't he the opening act for Dean Martin at the Sands back in the 60's? - boilermaker100
He also has a good deal on Van Halen tickets and is good friends with Spiccoli |

Busy day obviously for the Blackhawks. I will share feedback in tomorrow's blog.
Overall, though, I like all 4 deals. Really like the Rolston acquisition actually. |

Last 2 weeks trade results
Out - the bad Morrison, Carlsson, Walmark, Highmore, Janmark, Soderberg and a 2022 5th.
= a career minor leaguer, 4 guys who won't be on the team next year anyway and a 5-6 Dman.
In - Hinostroza, Connolly, Stillman, rights to Borgstrom, Richardinson (replaces Morrison as a AHL player), rights to Rolston, a 2021 2nd and 7th and a 2022 3rd.
I could see Vinnie signed on the cheap next year, Connolly gone in the expansion draft, Stillman possibly contributing as a 5-6 Dman, a couple of prospects and a couple more draft picks.
The big fish in the pond is Borgstrom.
Edit forget Gaudette. Maybe some potential there. - boilermaker100
D-i-c-kinson is more of an ECHL player, so he kind of replaces Morrison in Indy. |

Bowman has had a good day. Nothing earth shattering by any means but he got good value in every trade.
He picked up lottery tickets for the UFAs he signed. The key being the lottery tickets are a bit more developed and guys they have scouted extensively.
With exception of Stillman, all the other players play or have played with draft picks of the Hawks. |

I mean, just how much TOI can Thornton find in a very stacked forward group? Beyond PP he is fourth line minutes. - jhawk59
When he dresses in the playoffs, 11-12 mins as a winger.
I hate the Leafs but always liked old Joe. |

For those of you scoring at home, Hawk draft picks for 2021:
1st; 2nd + Vegas 2nd; 4th + Vanc 4th; 6th; 7th.
And Hawks still retain the rights to Maxim Shalunov. |

There is nothing to not like about these deals. Bowman traded aways players who were not part of the future for prospects and picks who one day could be an important part or traded for a final piece or two.
As far as the future the big question is Borgstrom and even bigger is Toews...I envision a press conference with Toews after the season concludes on his future...good or bad. |

He had a great day IMO and didn't waste anything in a desperate effort to make the playoffs. He brought bodies in to replace the guys that went out the door and is telling the team to keep playing boys. |

This last one to me is a nice one too. To move up a and now have am first, two seconds and two fourths that will probably fall in the top 115 players or lower means IF the Hawks advanced scouting has done their job, they get a nice chance to select the guys you know will slip through because many clubs hadn't spent the $ to advance scout the class the year earlier.
You can look up the approximate places those picks will fall and the players I have in their proximity.

How does Anders Bjork rate? Is he worth a third rounder? Did Stan get more for Janmark than Buffalo got for Hall? |

watched a scouting report on Ryder and the like his skating and edge work. sounds like that part of his game is High end. has a solid effort and a good shot and shot 1st mentality. that said his passing and hands would probably be considered AVG or Below. did not have a good year at ND it look like. |

Remember a year ago at the deadline, so many her thought Gus would bring late
1st rounder---
Marc Bergevin had to eat half his contract to get St. Louis' SEVENTH ROUNDER from Flyers for him.. |

Are the capitals throwing in the towel?
THIS, Anthony Mantha is the answer enough to send a first rounder, second rounder and players for a kid who still after years of tutelage just doesnt anticipate and see the ice to extend looks. Yeah Mantha STILL shows little recognition of what is happening, doesn’t make the right move/play that is evolving. Panik sucks ,scores occasionally , and they probably think Vrrna wanted more than his sorry ass is worth.
they must think hMantha is a be another big man presence like Tom Wilson.
So, I hope for their sake he fill some role, but I dunno, seems like a housecleaning and desperation to re-tool as the season winds down...

sorry double;Yeah I thought Zadorov was going to the Jets.
Here is what I wrote about Ryder Rolston in the first in his two eligible years for the draft (late bloomer wasn't taken the first time around)
Ryder Rolston
An elite skater Is too much of a perimeter player for a prospect with high caliber abilities. Wastes time and effort in his possession unnecessarily playing laterally when more straight line approach would serve the offensive attack. Is a goal scorer with a fast stick and uses his wide base to grab loose pucks. Needs to keep his head up and work to help push pace more fully. Posssesses more than enough speed too do so. Committed to Notre Dame university. His father is Brian Rolston fomer NHLer.
This season he wasn't productive and had nagging minor issues.
The kid whose father was an NHLer kinda knows what is expected, commitment, and when to hand them up if they dont "got" it. |
