Clearly a Leafs fan knows more about Mantha than we do, because you've watched every Wings game the last few seasons like most of us have, eh? I'm okay with the deal, but Vrana isn't better than Mantha. - Datsyuks_Dangle

Mantha - 0.76 |

I watch games across the league. I am familiar. Mantha is a really good player, but the majority of people believe this is an overpay by Washington. |

Because that’s the player he is in this generation. Watch his game and not just the stats. I watch them all the time. - Jeremy Laura
You’re way off on this one. |

No, I’m not high. And no, Vrana isn’t the best player in the deal. He is a grinder. He’s got some scoring touch, but he’s a 3rd line guy on a very good team - Jeremy Laura

I think the biggest question mark here is Vrana put up those numbers on a playoff team over the last few years, while Mantha put up similar ones on a very bad Detroit team. Swap scenarios and who knows maybe Mantha is a 60 point guy and Vrana is a 30 point guy next season. |

Stammer, do you watch the games? Again, he’s on a high scoring team. I’m sick to death of your bullpoop on this. I wouldn’t be saying it if it wasn’t my honest feedback from watching this player. Stop being a Richard |

Definitely not the case and it has been debunked many many times. |

Again, on a high scoring team with tons of depth and talent. I don’t see him doing the same production in Detroit. Context is everything. - Jeremy Laura
I feel as though you’re looking at this short term. With the amount of cap space Detroit can weaponize, and the high end prospects you have coming (and already playing), Detroit isn’t long for a roster loaded with depth and talent. I see no reason why Vrana can’t thrive in Detroit. |

I’m fine being in the minority, because most of you don’t actually watch these players. A drop off in scoring is coming as he transitions to this team. The caps are surrounded with talent and two top lines that make life way better for their depth.

Vrana was only good because the capitals scored. He’s just a speedy grinder lmao. |

That's the thing with Mantha. If hey can stay healthy. If he moves his feet. If all the it's and but's were candy and nuts then we'd all have a Merry Christmas.
This trade must've been in the works for awhile. I really believe Yzerman expected a much better season from Mantha. He gave him that big contract extension and Mantha returned to his inconsistent floating ways.
Yzerman doesn't suffer fools lightly. He didn't when he played either. I don't know much about Vrana so I'm not going to say he's better than Mantha or isn't. But I do trust Yzerman's judgment.
We're all shocked right now but maybe once it wears off we'll think Yzerman made a good trade here. Or not. I don't know. But I'm not going to dismiss it on gut reaction. - gergeswillems

You don’t. All you do is type stats. And “debunked” you are so full of poop. O’Reilly leaves buffalo and kills it. Just shut up, you’re kind of garbage has worn thin |

You’re trolling me because of the input I have on this deal. Trying to say that I’m in the minority. That may be on the board, but at least have some respect. I watch Washington almost as much as I watch Detroit. Vrana benefits being on that team, even though Stammer is too much of an idiot to admit it |

You really should stop growing so attached to players. You get in your feelings too much when they get moved or are suggested they should be moved.
You also don’t know me or how much hockey I watch so if that’s your only argument that speaks for itself. |

I fully admit that I don't know enough about Vrana's game. But I'll be watching him closely now! We all will. I respect that Jeremy has seen Vrana play alot and he's entitled to his opinion.
I thought Mantha would be traded this summer but I guess Stevie struck while the iron was hot. I also hope Mantha plays well for the Caps. I'll miss his lethal shot. But I won't miss his floating. Let's hope Stevie and Verbeek can strike gold with these draft picks too. 👍 |

I know you’re a wiener. You hide behind numbers to try and beat people down. I’m absolutely sick of it. I’m not “attached”, I’m pissed that Yzerman just kicked the can down the road another 3-5 years. |

I'm not sure I agree that it's that simple.
Vrana was surrounded by better players in Washington, but also was only getting ~12 minutes of ES ice time per night. In Detroit he'll have less support, but more opportunity. There are a lot of unknowns but I don't think it's fair to assume his offensive output is necessarily going to take a nosedive in Detroit.
IMO both Mantha and Vrana were not in ideal situations. I think on a perfectly average NHL team they are both quality second-line wingers. Mantha was playing over his head on Detroit's first line, and Vrana was underutilized on Washington's third. |

And you are in the minority. I also don't care what Stammer says, he's entitled to his opinion. But hey, glad you watch the Caps and Redwings. No need to get worked up. If you don't like people disagreeing with you, don't blog. |
