the b's were getting away with stuff like that all game...sabres had one no-call...b's had like two or three in regulation and that egregious one in overtime
- Michael Pachla

The officiating and how the league wants games to be played and called by officials is the biggest thing holding the league back from gaining popularity.

Instead of having a more free flowing, faster paced, more offensive game, they prefer the slog fests.

Cale Makar is a big step above where both Dahlin and Hughes are right now FYI.
- sbroads24

He’s also older than Dahlin by 2 years and on a much better team

Do you feel like either irwin or tage (fights) will prevent further cheap shots from the Bruins.

No, of course not.

I appreciate their efforts, that's not tall timbers game, despite his size and reach advantage.

The Sabres need someone who lands punches and hurts the bruins players. That's when they will consider their cheap shot actions.

You have been adamantly against tom wilson type guys for years. You got your wish, go 2021 sabres!

- Boss34

I mean, yeah, Chris Drury and Marc Savard never took a cheap shot on a team with face punchers. The Bruins had 5 face punchers, and yet Matt Cooke still tried to decapitate Savard.

The Avs had Peter Worrell (1554 PIM), Jim Cummins (1538), and Adam Foote (1534), hell, even Cody McCormick wasn't shy either when Steve Moore got his neck broken by Todd Bertuzzi, who was also on the Canucks during the inciting incident when Moore hit Naslund in the head. Who else was on the Canucks? Brad May (2248), Jarkko Ruutu (1078), Ed Jovanovski(1491), and Wade Brookbank(95 PIM in 20 games that year). Oh, and also that rat (frank) Cooke too. A whole goddamn team's worth of face punchers and 2 devastating incidents came out of 2 games.

Face punchers are not deterrents, no matter how much your little head tries to make it make sense.

Face punchers are not a deturrent yet our players are often injured from cheap shots more than other teams.

No one said we need a knuckledragger just someone who can drop them when needed.

Also you can point to all the times cheap shots happened but what about all the games cheap shots didn't happen. Can you add those ones up and let me know what one is a bigger number?

Tonight was probably his best game this year but I feel like he hasn’t looked like a rookie since the middle of March.

I also may be a little bit biased though being the tank commander in 2018.

Nah, you are false. Eichel has been hit from behind more than any star in the league.

On top of that nothing is done when it happens so it continues to happen game after game

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaTljDqCA-E

This happens to Jack Eichel 10 times a season or more. How's his neck doing?

It really was inspiring to see him get the puck and just go. He is kind of like Jack-light in that he is probably just a shade slower than Jack (who isn't?).

That said... that was the first game where you thought he didn't look like a rookie? I don't get that at all.

Can see Granato's practices are different too, this team has more energy and stamina, not dying in the 3rd and overtime.

I can’t remember the rolston take over. Did that team show as much battle with that coaching change?

Was Ralph THAT bad?

Is Granato going to be good?

Or is Granato looking better because Ralph was that bad...

I just keep liking Granato. Get him a really strong, seasoned offensive assistant to run the pp and let Donny run...

I think it is two things. First, the compete is certainly there. The guys bust it up ice as a unit and that's really great to see.

Second, the skating. Guys that can skate are flourishing and guys that can't are not. I think there would be some addition by subtraction by removing some of these guys that can't go so that you have 4 lines that can really motor.

Yup, definitely addition by subtraction. I wonder if he finds the bench when Caggiula plays as I don't know what other forward would come out.
