As a person who does statistics for a living, when talking about this sort of thing, there would definitely be weights for what have you done recently. But I'm the one "cherry picking"
Got it - SDSabre
Well, what has Jack done most recently? Oh yeah, he got hurt again and wasn't playing at a point per game.

That's a no brainer. - Powerslave
Right now, it doesnt look like we will need cap next year. If we arent close, mind as well just bury him in the AHL
That would be a cap hit of $1.175 million for 2021/2022 and $0 for 2022/2023

Didn’t Taylor Hall win an MVP 🥸 - lulags
He did, but he is not a young center in his prime. I must have missed where all of the NHL GM's line up to acquire top goaltending because (as we all know) goalies win championships.
We had the greatest goalie in the history of the planet but we didn't have elite centers. How did that work out for us? |

So then what does 375 games have to do with your argument

nathan gerbe was also on the last sabres playoff team and this tells me it is IMPERATIVE that being short is far more important than centers |
|
|
|
Say the Sabres go on a bizerk win streak finish 3rd last, end up picking 6th in complete Sabre fashion, I’d consider moving that pick for Gibson
Hides - sbroads24
you hated given a late first, for a cost controlled Lehner (who has developed into a better goalie than Gibson)
and you would give a top 10 pick for a goalie? |

Pick. A. Lane. - SDSabre
I'm obviously debating someone who wants to talk about Jack's most recent work so I brought it up.
My lane has been picked. Jack eichel is not a franchise player and all of the numbers back that up. Jack eichel is not a point-per-game player in his NHL career and all of the numbers back that up too.
Wait now I get it!
Jack eichel matters. Anyone who disagrees is an anti Ginger |

There is nothing wrong with thinking that he is over-rated. Maybe you're right and he is. If he is what you say he is you wouldn't see people falling over themselves trying to get him. And we certainly wouldn't be looking for a "top goalie" in return. |

By definition, there are 31 franchises, so there would be 31 "franchise players"
Jack Eichel is one of the 31 best players in the league. I rest my case. He's a franchise player. Maybe on the lower end, but franchise none the less. And for the record, I get what you are saying. He's not bad, but you wanted more after the suffering right? Like McJesus, MacKinnon, Drai production. I totally get it. But honestly you lose people when you say stuff like he's not a ppg player just to stir the pot. Take out his rookie year and he's a ppg. You know who else isn't a ppg player? The aforementioned MacKinnon. |

That's a great point. There are really probably three tiers of elite players. McJesus by himself at the first tier. Sid and 34 on the next level. And then a handful of great players in the third level. Jack is clearly in this level along with MacKinnon, Malkin, Barzal, and 10 or 15 others. Arguing who is better in this level is pointless. |

There's not a post on this blog or any other where I've said Jack Eichle sucks. Never. I have said continually he's not a franchise player, and that somehow gets translated to he sucks.
How do I replace a mid tier 1c? You're kidding right? Much more important is finding a legit 1g, which will impact the team far more than Jack from his permanent LazyBoy in the NHL basement. I'm tired of not having real hockey to watch after the 20th game of ever year of Jack's career because he cannot make his team good.
I'd trade this guy for a top 5 goalie any day of the week in the offseason. And I'd be in the playoffs the next season. Not saying that's a remote possibility, but that's what I'd look to get for this unremarkable player. I doubt anyone would trade a legit star goalie for him though. - lacaprup
Top 5 goalie for a mid tier center? The mid-tier center who averages .95 PPG.

What does that even mean?
A 19 year old kid out of college isn't a ppg player on what was the worst team in the league the season prior...
