It's probably more and more everyday that I'm starting to think you guys are the same person.
If so, bravo, Pach.
If not, the both of you need to lighten up. |

Somethings rotten in the state of Denmark. How bout the comment from Staal earlier in the year about how Eichel can’t be thinking about where he’ll be and needs to be focused on right now that he had to publicly retract because it was being blown out of proportion. Maybe it was, but one more thing to add to the strange events concerning Jack Eichel list. He was adamant about how much he liked Ralph as a coach in off season. It sure looks like it. - Hatboro_Swords
I'm just sick of the homer fans, I don't fault them, but constantly defending him... It's just tiresome at this point.
The dude is horrible to watch interview. He puts the same pout on as Cryin' Ryan Miller and does the same stare at the ground and look for the answers fumbling around trying not to explode and throw all of his team mates and coaches under the bus.
He is an entitled wiener, for sure. But it's been 6 years now, and it's no longer just a trend. It's a full blown climb up a mountain of madness with this guy. Coaches fired, GM's fired, team mates traded, team mates backhanding insults at him, is he or isn't he hurt? Does he or does he not want to be traded?
He's going through the motions. (frank) him.
He clearly doesn't want to be here. He has clearly lost motivation. He's never shown heart, only frustration. He's never said "You know what, I'm the captain and it starts with me. I need to be a better guy to be around and I need to understand that just because people don't wake up at 4 am, slam an 8oz glass of raw eggs, take a hot shower, take an ice bath, get on the exercise bike for an hour, take another ice bath, have a lunch, have a nap, wake up, have a protein shake, have a session in the gym, have another ice bath, take another hot shower every single day doesn't mean they aren't committed." |

Skinner scored 40 goals in 2018.
Olofsson had 20 goals and 22 assists last year good for 42 points in 54 games. Over an 82 game season that is roughly 30 goals and 34 assists good for a 64 point pace.

so you're saying trade him away this off season? - Michael Pachla
Eichel is a great hockey player. But at this point it needs an asterisk. *When he wants to be.
He has also been here 6 years now. 3 GM's. 4 coaches. Has alienated multiple veterans in the locker room. It's one thing after another with this guy. It's no longer where there's smoke there's fire - It's unequivocally where there's a camp fire there's a forest fire. It's just too much.
He doesn't get along with team mates. Half the room is split between him and ROR. The vets don't like him. He's always hurt or playing hurt. He's demanded to be traded multiple times and had to take it back presumably only after his agent has a nice chat with him.
I want him to be great and be here and lead this team to the playoffs and more. At this point, let me ask you this. If this was a long-term relationship of 6 years, would you be willing to give it another chance at this point? Would all of this be water under the bridge?
I don't think this team sniffs the playoffs for another 3 years barring some miraculous turn-around next year - Should we be confident they can pull this off? So where I am at is what value does he bring to this team NOW and not when he's injured and ornery again for the next 2 years after his NMC kicks in and we're forced to trade an angry, injured, under-performing superstar to only a team he will accept a trade to?
We just saw what happened with Hall. I think what Eichel brings back this summer in a trade, or alternatively, after a healthy season, what he might fetch at the TDL should we be out of the playoff picture yet again.
I think what he brings in a trade helps this team more and for a longer time than what he brings to this team in the locker room and on the ice right now.
Thompson, Mittelstadt, Asplund, Cozens - The further they have gotten away from Eichel and Krueger, the better they have looked. And yes, I am placing Eichel and Krueger together. After Eichel was out, the younger players slowly but surely started to look a lot better, despite Ralph. Under Granato, they've borderline flourished.
The only players not playing better right now are the players who benefited most from Eichel. Olofsson and Reinhart. And Risto but he's a lost cause at this point. Even Skinner looks like himself again the past 6 or 7 games. Okposo is a revelation. Dahlin's body language is completely different and he looks loose and engaged in the game. Jokiharju looks good again.
Yes, I have thought long and hard about it. It's not an easy decision but we should absolutely consider trading Eichel this summer, but the return has to be at least two 1sts, a roster player and a prospect. Or he stays here and rots. |

I can find common ground with some of what you are saying. He seems like a guy with a very stuck up attitude which probably rubs people the wrong way.
I also agree with the fact that the NMC provides a sticky situation if this team is not a playoff team next season.
I also understand you cannot help the team from the tub. Availability is key.
However, you cannot deny the talent he possesses. We would get bent over in any trade as we are giving up the best player in the deal. We would also have to deal with Eichel putting up elite numbers throughout the duration of his prime and possibly winning cup(s).
The Sabres could build a strong team with the pieces they get back in an Eichel trade, however if it means being the next Minnesota Wild or Montreal Canadiens and being a playoff team that doesn’t get anywhere will it be worth it ? |

85%
The pegula's are in long term on kagm. They let him hire his coaches. Guy's that are instructors.
They let kagm being in an associate gm to handle some of the "GM'ing"
This is his team now and 4 -2 -2 is impressive. All things considered its %.500

There's not a post on this blog or any other where I've said Jack Eichle sucks. Never. I have said continually he's not a franchise player, and that somehow gets translated to he sucks.
How do I replace a mid tier 1c? You're kidding right? Much more important is finding a legit 1g, which will impact the team far more than Jack from his permanent LazyBoy in the NHL basement. I'm tired of not having real hockey to watch after the 20th game of ever year of Jack's career because he cannot make his team good.
I'd trade this guy for a top 5 goalie any day of the week in the offseason. And I'd be in the playoffs the next season. Not saying that's a remote possibility, but that's what I'd look to get for this unremarkable player. I doubt anyone would trade a legit star goalie for him though. - lacaprup

no one does, it goes without saying but I literally did say exactly that.
I just don't ever see him winning a cup here. I think we're better off building around Dahlin/Cozens at this point. I am at the point where I think not trading him will set this franchise back another 10 years. |

a lot of hearsay an innuendo up top, don't know where the youngins are provably better without jack as cozens has looked good all season and mitts was a pleasant surprise when he got the call...they've gotten better because the worst coach in sabres history got canned and the new one is letting them play...skinner and dahlin were freed with the firing of ralph and joker found some chemistry playing off a revived dahlin...asplund finally got a chance to play and has made a statement...
i don't know where all this is coming from

We also haven’t been able to build a decent team around Eichel either though
So it is fair to ask how long we continue this massive failure?
Or whether we should scrap it & start with a new “core” |
