I like the Karmanous hire.

He has a resume of helping build winning teams. I like Kevyn Adams when he speaks, he just is so inexperienced it is hard to get behind him as someone who can build a winning team.

I really think kagm is the "president of hockey ops" we have all been waiting for.

Basically a trustworthy guy, the pegula's will take information from.

The associate tag shows that karmanous is able to do the work of a gm. Basically the gm, not the assistant.

That's what I'm reading into it anyways. Which is probably wrong 😉

Good point 👍

Finally seems like we have a young "core" , not including pouting jack.

Dahlin
Cozensons
Mitts
Timber tage
Asplund
Joker
Borgen
Bryson
*Ullmark

Move 23, 9 , 53 and okposo

- Boss34

But what about our King, 28

Call me crazy but I want to keep the only elite player we have. If you want to fight about it, I'll be at the La Nova concession stand in the 100 level sampling hallucinogenics and plotting how to get fast Larry back in the offseason

If you think an established 60 point RFA is only worth a late first, then I don't know what to tell you.
- TheSabresTaco

I also wouldn't move said player just to get a contract off the books

The associate tag probably came with more responsibility and more money

I am in agreement with you on Karmanous, he is more experienced than the "GM" here is will probably take that GM title soon enough

I don't think most of us have enough resistance in our blood to handle that amount of truculence. If you watch live, ensure you wear a space suit to block the radiation of utter greatness.

Last place though, 4 dirty hits by the Bruins on :
Dahlin
Reider
Bryson
Sam got rocked , maybe not dirty

They went through 3 GMs a president of hockey ops that lasted what 2 months, 4 coaches, and you expect me to be all on board that they know how to groom someone to becoming a first time NHL GM with zero front office experience?

Until this disaster of a season there was no plans for Adams to hire a AGM.

The difference is there was a response from the Sabres

In the past there wouldn't have been

Not enough of a response to compete with the Bruins but it's a start

Even Dahlin starting slashing back after taking a hit. Once this team starts doing that regularly you won't see other teams like the Bruins taking runs at them.

I don't understand the relationship of hits from team A to truculence on team B

Hiring Ralph might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

The ultimate failure that was this team made the Pegulas question things and from the sound of it, they know they need to stay out of the way...

Will it last? Only time will tell

Good points, and I respect your point of view.

Just feel like, when the Sabres turn this around, its gonna be "luck" regardless of who or how they hire.

The pegula's have become billionaires by hiring the right people thru out his business ventures.

Yes, he's been fooled by smooth talkers.
We've all hired the wrong people, or been hired when misrepresenting.

I was a great interview, hired for every job I've interviewed for. Never qualified 😉

See what they lay out, you can see what Adams vision is for this team. See what Karmanos says and when they expect to add to the staff.
- Buff36

Based on Adams first offseason and what he has done during the season, I'm not sure I understand his vision or that it is clear, yet.

What he says is window dressing. The moves he makes and roster he constructs, along with the coach he chooses are what matters.

- TheSabresTaco

Great28 gets claimed in the expansion draft or replaces okposo as alternate captain.

3 alternate captains, instead of 1 captain , until someone earns it: post eichel
Risto
Great28
Dahlin

Solid post.
I think you are far more right than wrong...give Adams 2 years in this position to get hands on experience before stepping up to President.
Going through building the FO is better for learning quickly than inheriting an existing FO.

Let's see how it goes.

I think the writing is in the wall with eichel.

He gone

I'd prefer to keep him, but we're not making the playoffs again next season. At what point does he sit out, with an "injury" and dictate his new destination?

I'd join you for some pizza and some sampling, no fists.

Guys on the morning show asking why Eric Staal is in the lineup and not Jake Evans?

It took just 6 games, everyone's already had enough of him.

After the Rex Ryan disaster the Pegulas were helped in the interview process by NFL people. I believe even Polian was consulted.

So they listened to people with experience.

With the Sabres they haven’t listened. Until the noise became too loud that they needed to.

That’s why I use the term lucky.

The Pegulas thinking they know everything has backfired heavily. Hopefully they get this right.

Being an 'associate' GM, he will bring a lot of the missing knowledge to Kevyn about hockey specific decisions, and probably directly assist in making those decisions, like a partner instead of an assistant. I think Kevyn is, or can be, a very useful President or vice or whatever for the organization. I just don't trust him, yet, on the ground level like I would a guy like Karmanos. He's the kind of guy that had the exact same career path as Brandon Beane. Which makes the hiring as unsurprising as it is interesting.
- TheSabresTaco

Plus Karmanos brings a lot of connections into the fray.
