Ullmark is very important to this teams success.

Any word on McCabe?

- chilliard77

not if you need to find (overpay?) a 1B who may end up playing 40+ games...ullmark, to me, is turning out to be a solid, albeit oft-injured, 1A and imo, you don't pay that much to that type of goalie...

and that's not to dismiss how important goaltending will be to this team in the immediate to near-term future

That's great for the games he's actually healthy enough to play in.

If they choose to work out a deal w him, they better have a really competent backup.

At this point, w his injury history, I'd almost overpay for a really good 1B or great b/u.

jeremy white proposed 3yrs. at $5.7 million per this morning while talking with pham
- Michael Pachla

We should get that done if possible. Wake up call is no high level NHL goalies are coming to Buffalo. Look at the trend of our high end trades. We only get the baggage the teams with real scouts have identified as washed or problem players.

I'm all in on getting a guy like Merzlikins to compete with Ullmark.

The Hutton experiment has shown us we need to have two goalies that can win

It almost kind of makes me wonder if Granato and Ullmark are tied to each other. We've seen that Ullmark can make a dramatic difference playing with this group of players in Granato's system. Maybe if Granato isn't here next year then they are more open to taking a risk on another goalie.

Easier said than done. Remember that (if my memory is right) Hutton led the league in save percentage the year before he came here. Point is that I don't know if you're getting a proven commodity in that price range.

On Bjork, tell me if you all agree:

He looks fast. Definitely a guy that can move north-south well and has some good edges, not as strong as his overall speed.

Lacks finish. This was his biggest critque I see commonly by Bruins fans, he'll have a wide open cage and send it over the bar or wide somehow. Yesterday he could've been the hero, but missed, sounds par to course.

Miles better than Lazar. He can actually skate well and made a few good moves. Had a couple of giveaways, one on the rush in the first period, but overall had a B game. Was attacking the puck, got a pretty iffy secondary assist, but overall looked sharp and like he's going to be a hard worker (might be a good pairing for Cozo). He won't have the same amount of grit as Lazar, but seems to be a good add right now.

I was all aboard the Hutton train when we signed him. But the guy is like Patrick Lalime bad.

Plan B is Skinner to Florida for Bob. Russians say Buffalo reminds them of home

He was actually fine for a while. His problem is that he could play decent in front of a decent team but he isn't the type that is going to carry a bad team. At some point he just became overwhelmed.

I like the way the team plays without Eichel. Him, Risto and Sam being traded would bring a boatload of youth I would like to see what Granato does with that. We really can change this team and culture around this offseason.
- Fattony1187

I completely agree. Would be refreshing seeing a bunch of young players, playing and developing as a team.

Granato would have some options with the return from some of these players.

His eyesight thing was the nail in the coffin. He's losing the puck in traffic, even on passes sometimes, you can see when he does he's miles out of position. I'm not sure, given that problem, that he'd succeed on a great team either. I can't imagine trying to play pro hockey and having difficulties simply tracking.

Feel for the guy, he's a nice fellow, but we swung and missed by a lot on that one.

Bjork is a 3LW that will be able to handle the defensive responsibilities on the line and stay above the puck allowing Cozens/Mitts or whomever to go buck wild.

To me he makes Girgensons redundant as he’s cheaper and more or less provides the same value.
