I'd actually argue that Borgen is actually more of a sure thing than VO, especially since he is cost controlled.
- Slump Buster

He's played 8 NHL games vs VOs how many? I'm not the biggest VO fan, but he's an NHL third liner with possibly the best tee off shot in the NHL outside of Ovechkin. Borgen could be a top 4, or could just be a journey man bottom pairing. The jury is still out.

I mean I've said it before. Maybe worthless isn't the correct word, but it's the word that was chosen for Tage. Recent bias surely is creeping in, I will admit. I also though Tage looked great before his shoulder injury last year, and like some have said can we really judge any player under the soccer czar? There will be trades, and if some want to expose Tage and keep VO or Girgs ok, just my thinking that we actually have a middle pairing line that has been dominating. Don't break them up.
- SDSabre

But is not dominating because of Tage... Asplund is the legs and Mitts is the Brain,

Tage is like the pinky toe, ya want to cut it off after stubbing the B*tch

VO is a guy that is very questionable 5 v 5. Of course he has shown more but he also makes more than 3 mill a year already. Most here are ok moving him and keeping Borgen - why wouldn't other GMs feel the same way? There is no way I take the chance.

Perhaps, and possibly somebody else could fill in Tage's spot better. VO shouldn't be on the top line anymore, experiment should be over there. He's extremely useful on the PP, and certainly has value. Ok, I will switch to save VO instead of Tage. He's prolly not being taken anyways.

It really is too bad Girgs got hurt. He's a perfect expansion type of guy. Signed at enough to help get to the cap, and can play a decent enough game.

JUst the thought of exposing someone other than Tage scares me.... He has shown nothing of use. Hard shot but rarely hits the net, skating is mediocre, passing sucks, not very physical, gets laid out in fights, Defense isn't good, hes only 23 but dang nabbit we traded ROR for you.. can you please show some potential.

I think miller will be seattle choice
Veteran
1year deal
Has gone thru expansion team already
Defesemen are more valuable in this scenario
I believe

Couldn't care about the first bolded, like at all

Second bolded 1) isn't his fault, so I'm not going to hold it against him and 2) really is irrelevant to making a better overall club. If it's him being moved/picked so be it. If it's somebody else so be it.

What really gets me upset about this season and last few is we had to sit here and watch washed up hockey players instead of the future.

The way the league is run is like a old boys club. Reputation instead of the eye test. We play losers instead of kids that work there a** off. Borgen should of been here last year but no we got to play our overpriced vets

This hard cap needs to end. Even if they keep it make buy outs unlimited. Yes GM’s need to be smart with contracts but there needs to be a out for the integrity of the game. Paying a guy 8mil a year for the next 6 years to sit at home is punishment enough for the club.

Thats what I get from watching the last 10 games. These kids want there spot but the eakins and Okposos are in the way and are apart of the big boys club.

I know just another thing he isn't good at. He may be mediocre but I don't want mediocre anymore.

When you trade a guy like that expect a little more from the guys that you get back. Sorry I expect more.

Speaking of "keys to the game", if I never hear "pucks to the net" again it'll be too soon. How about "go out and skate fast and be really creative"?
- Slump Buster

"gotta get pucks deep" is also annoying

Matt Ellison never won a MVP. That is who Sharp was traded for.

Very impressed how Cozens and Bjork have seem to jive together. That whole line brings a lot of speed. And Bjork is very good defensively. Very evident that Washington's defense couldn't handle the speed and puck pressure. It was a really fun game to watch. And Borgen is getting close, who sits, or does Miller go to the Left side.
- Buff36

I wonder if the Caps couldn't handle it or just weren't prepared. I mean, those of us who watch the Sabres regularly weren't prepared for that. We'll easily surprise a few teams but they'll catch on.

Apart from the fact that I actually feel Girgs is worthless, the Mitts, Asplund, Tallness line has played extremely well. As always, with more data my mind can be changed.
- SDSabre

i dont think that line has been playing because of him though.. he really brings little to the table other than tallness

I'm definitely intrigued. His numbers in Rochester are like one of our backups so my expectations at this point aren't that high.

Sorry to be the one to tell you, but many on the roster will be mediocre. You can expect more, doesn't mean you are going to get it. Whether we protect him or not, Tage is probably here to stay, which is why I said above I take back my protecting him and probably choose VO. And again, you can blame not wanting to pay the bonus as for the very weak return. Finances played just as big of part as the quality of players.
