I do feel a responsibility to the fans and the Sabres contingent. We're in the entertainment business. It should be entertaining. I want to be entertained, you know? So, I can only imagine the fans.

That was one thing that I had in mind was to make our games more intriguing, interesting, fun and entertaining with every team I've coached. This is no different. I'm not trying to coach necessarily to this situation. I'm just coaching the way I coach. That's always been my philosophy and my approach to it.

We all love the game, so let's play it at a level that we can enjoy.

I've actually been thinking about this a lot over the last few days.

We are now toward the end of what was going to be our worst year ever. Wouldn't it be weird to break the tank curse (not that I believe in that nonsense) by playing ourselves out of the last spot? I am fully on board - the more wins now the better because they are meaningful and not achieved by a bunch of scrubs that won't be here next year.

yeah...it's a little bit of that...it's also a weird draft year and as recent play has shown, they're capable of landing a good player in that 5-8 range...i don't mind them winning and in fact it might be better as they need to learn how to win, not lose for a higher pick

A bad goalie makes a good team in front of them much worse.
A great goalie in front of a bad teams makes them average.

I think there's more to it than just a blanket statement that goalies are all products of environment. We had Hasek, were those teams good or did Hasek save us night over night?

Has a UFA been taken in expansion? Doesn't look like Vegas did. I always assumed because McCabe was UFA, you'd either get a deal worked out in theory before and sign him on July 1st or not. The idea of protecting him and leaving one of Risto or Borgen out there for the taking seems a waste, but is that just not how it works?

I was expecting to lose Asplund or Girgs tbh.
