Subban has been the most glaring... and that contract.

P.K. Subban signed a 8 year / $72,000,000 contract with the Montreal Canadiens, including a $25,500,000 signing bonus, $72,000,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $9,000,000. In 2020-1, Subban will earn a base salary of $2,000,000 and a signing bonus of $6,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $9,000,000.

Yup. Remember that?

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks nearly pulled off a trade for P.K. Subban in 2016. Friedman revealed that the Canucks were close to trading for Subban at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft in New York. The Habs coveted PLD.

Friedman explained that if Vancouver somehow managed to get Dubois, a trade could have gone down.

“Vancouver has confirmed this to me. There was a chance the Canucks were going to get PK Subban that night. The problem was that Pierre-Luc Dubois was not going to fall to Vancouver’s pick, because Montreal knew Columbus was taking him. If Montreal believed that Dubois was going to be available at five, PK Subban could have been a Vancouver Canuck.”

Is this the first time losing draft position actually saved this franchise from something utterly disastrous because despite finishing 28th in the league standings, they wound up moving down to fifth?

A lot of people here loved the idea of Subban coming here, and were OK with the 5th being the price. It was the addition of Horvat that we later learned of that made us all glad it never happened at the time.

Subban was coming off 51 pts in 68 games and had 53 and 60 in 82 games the previous 2 years to this. He then had 2 good years on Nashville before falling off a cliff in New Jersey. At the time, I would have gladly sent 5OA for Subban and many of us would have cheered if nothing else big went with it.

in JB we trust.

The real kicker is that we would have traded PLD for Subban and that horrendous contract. You just can’t make this poop up.

I didn’t know about Horvat. Just going off of what EF stated and was confirmed by JB and team. If canucks had the 3rd overall pick it would have been traded straight up for Subban.

I’m at the cottage, on the deck, with Caesar in hand, and typing on my phone having a laugh. Life is good.

At the time it would have been seen as a good trade, would have left no cap for LE. Many thought that someone like Subban could have helped us back into the playoffs, which many fans wanted over a rebuild. In hindsight it was good we did not get him ofc.

I saw the weather forecast for the week and told the boss I’ll be taking this week off. Of course the wife says “great, you can go up to Cultus and paint the kids rooms and our bedroom”.

Just got an email from my realtor. Single family homes in Victoria are up 10% YOY to almost $1m and sales are up 80% compared to 2020.

Low supply and high demand!

Bought it June 2013 and so happy we did. Especially for the kids. It was weird raising kids in Yaletown so it gave us a place where kids can be kids.

I’m proud of my Caesars. Lots of compliments. One of the factors that many people miss is the amount of Worcestershire Sauce used. Got to use lots and lots or it just looks and tastes weak. I also use Buffalo style Tabasco which gives it a smoky flavour. I also put lots of junk in it, starting with a crushed clove of garlic under the ice, lime juice, and picked everything.

Found this company called BC Brine

Please support this company because they are awesome!

Anyway, love the Caesar!

Prices are not going down. I know. The modest change in the qualification rates won’t do Sh!t. If you are downsizing it’s a great time to sell. But otherwise hold!

The house across the street from me sold for 168 in 2018. A new kitchen and bathroom went for 291 last year and now listed for 339 and they're accepting offers until Saturday at noon. Even here the market is insane.

The difference here is that the market was so depressed to begin with when the bubble bursts it won't drop that much.

Real estate in Canada is up about 200% since 2000.

Vancouver will always remain high but the rest of the country isn't as insulated.

Yeah Auckland is usually in the top 5-10 least affordable cities to buy a home as well. House prices jumped 5.2 per cent in February which took the annual increase to 21.5%

It's wild to me that the market is so strong in the midst of a global pandemic and economic downturn.
