BTW....when one listens to the Lowry interview it's once again the same theme you hear over and over from the Jets core. Stong organization from top to bottom, well run, well-coached, solid guys as teammates, tight group, strong focus on winning, etc. It's certainly not in any way, shape or form, the sh#t show that some posters/trolls on here would like you to believe.
Certainly, there are a few players who move on because they have girlfriends in NYC , wanted to play for hometown Columbus, or have Hollywood stars in their eyes. At the end of the day though most of these guys really want to stay with this organization. - jetsnation
I see what you are saying, but his dad is a coach so he may be a tad biased.
Also, I know there are a ton of ex players who love Maurice, but that doesn’t make him a winner. Tampa hated Torts when he won a cup there, but he won a cup there. A lot of players hated playing for Al Arbour, while they were winning 5 cups in a row. My point is simple being loved does not equal success.

Well stated.
When it comes down to it, the only players that matter should be ones that want to win the Stanley Cup. The nightlife and the star appeal of a city will be secondary. It's why some players in the NFL sign with Superbowl contenders like Green Bay over Miami. |

Plus there are so many good guys available for league minimum every year if you can find the right one. I have to admit Lewis and Thompson have far exceeded my pre season expectations but let me add, I’m mot in a hurry to resign them lol - Ross77
I would not want to lose Stanley. You cannot teach teach that size. Plus his advanced stats are incredible.
I find it laughable that some on here are talking about Stanley being sheltered and to view his quality of competition. That’s something all the Lowry lovers should be doing right now. His advanced stats are deplorable.

I think it’s fine. Would have been better to be three years but this is the nature of the beast. I won’t be to worried about the money even in its last two years, he can be moved to wing for those. It’s a better deal than little and wheelers.
Chevy knows what players and agents are thinking. We all heard Copp’s last arbitration went horrible (like any players/teams arbitration) I have t wonder if Copp is in the Trouba train, trying to get to UFA status as quickly as possible and he will be asking for far too much?? I’m just guessing but if the abets and Copp are not on the same page this summer, I’d expect a trade before expansion. Maybe someone gives us a third for him?
Before Rexy gets mad, I’m not advocating to trade him, I’m speculating that Chevy already knows he doesn’t want to be here. - Ross77
Agree on Copp Ross. The Jets should be giving a long term deal to him first before Lowry. We'll see if he goes to arbitration again, if he does he's as good as gone.

Fully agreed!
Yes, Thompson and Lewis have been so much better than the 4th liners we had last season. But, we'll probably move on, and maybe a spot for one of them.
Might say to Seattle "Here's a 7th but don't take a d-man." Never thought I would say that. So probably Harkins or Appleton - unless some deals.

Didn't Maurice win a cup in Carolina. He got to the finals and did win the Eastern Conference trophy. Whatever that is called. |

He did not win a cup in Carolina, they fired him and then Laviolette came in and won the cup. Yes, Maurice has been to one cup finals though.....in 30 years of coaching |

See the game has been moved up to 6 p.m.
Perfect! Sit in the warm sun, a couple of libations, BBQ - and GAME ON! Feels like the playoffs! I'll have to wear white!
Anyone know the Jets line-up? Any changes? Wheeler back in? Guessing he will be but ??? |

Just to expand on that. Maurice has stated that as we move forward you will see a rotation of Heinola, Benn, and Stanley into and out of the lineup on a more regular basis. Of course, if first place is on the line into the final game or two it might factor into some of those decisions.

I’m not an NHL coach, but isn’t obvious you need to avoid soft dump ins on such a great puck handling goalie? I think Smith plays so good against the Jets cause we let him get comfortable playing the puck, then he starts to feel it by making saves. He’s a hot head, I’d be crashing the net and screening him to get off his game. |

I am more concerned about this team lacking that “killer instinct”. We have a chance to take the division and for some reason are unable to string together a long winning streak to take it and establish our dominance. |

Which season was it when the Jets couldn't get past three wins in a row? I remember when they finally did one of the media guys said something about it and Scheifele responded something like "I guess we can finally stop talking about that now". |

I was thinking that McDavid and Draisytl must be playing 30 mins per game but according to Hoceky reference, McD is 22.30 and Driasytl is 22 mins.
But, if one of these guys go down for any length of time, one would think that there would be some concern.
Helle is going to have to be playing out of his mind each night with Wpg's defence. Have they given up 10 breakways in the last 3 games? |

According to the site I saw, Draisaitl was 27+ minutes and McJesus 24+.
Won't win by babying our best players! |

I don’t believe a word Maurice says. He has lied so many times and been caught for it, I just can’t take anything he says seriously anymore |

But shiefele gets dominated, absolutely dominated when he is on the ice against those guys, so what’s the answer?
This teams coach refuses to change his systems and game planning for mcdavid and Mathews and it will cost us. |

We are 2-5 against the Oilers who look like our first round opponent.
Our coach needs to figure this out and fast!!!
It’s painful watching him try the same things over and over against certain teams. |

My mistake as I was looking at total average for the year vs last nights game. So my eye test was correct as they were out there alot last night. |

My enthusiasm for playoff advancement has been curbed a bit lately watching the break away orgy being given up game after game. Its like a steady procession these last three or four games down the ice.
You will not win every game but jeez........

My worry has always been a first-round matchup against the Oilers. There are certain things that have become apparent from the past three gams against them
1) Don't put the Scheif line up against McDavid
2) Don't take stupid high sticking and hooking penalties against them.
3) Stanley and Demelo twosome are giving up a ton of breakaways. They are just too slow . Heinola will definitely be in the next game.
4) I agree that crashing the net and getting Smith off his game is a must as well as making better choices on dumping the puck in.
Finally, I am getting tired of PLD doing basically nothing game after game and also making lazy plays. It has become quite noticeable. He needs to find another gear because he is way too casual out there.

Interesting note,
Ehlers has more power play points than Connor and wheeler and only two less than Shiefele. Pionk has more than Morrisey, and Copp as well is right there with everyone. Yet!!!!!
The Ehlers-Copp-pink unit has played exactly half!!!! Half the minutes!! As the other unit.
Want to guess which unit Maurice still calls his first unit??
That’s a joke!!!! A complete joke!! It furthers proves Maurice will never upset 55, 44 and 26!! Not even when it hurt our team. |
