Erod is playing some great hockey. Zoho should be a fixture in this lineup when the playoffs start. - madmike71
Ya, I noticed him out there. Seems like his stick handling is pretty good. He reminds of a better conner sheary. He can bounce up and down the lineup but....makes for a good 4th liner. |

McCann looking like a 30 goal scorer like he did first half of last season. Nice thing was his fore-checking created that possession. - Tojo.
So, do we protect him? Maybe let Zucker be taken? I haven't been keeping up with all of that? |

Blueger hasn't seemed overly impressive since coming back. Based solely on eye test admittedly |

That Connor Sheary that just scored his 12th goal of the season?

If it's between Zucker and McCann, I think you protect McCann. |

Yeah. That really doesn't happen. Also, Sheary is much better than ERod. |

Caps are in good position to use Sheary for scoring depth with all the big wings they have in the line-up. |

Pens got a protection problem up front. Most probably agree with just exposing Zucker. I don't, but don't want to get into it during a game, or really get too much into the off-season planning until seeing how this season ends.
Trading a forward before expansion might be a good idea, but hard to pull off with everyone else looking at their protection lists. Or making a side deal with Seattle. |

Zucker has to be protected, no? Wouldn’t they have to do what they did with Fleury?

Hard to believe out of the Buffalo-Penguins trade last year... Rodrigues was the most valuable guy to either team.
He's been rock solid this year. |

He seems to have regressed a bit, this is a good game for him to get things going again. As I say that, he looked pretty good below the net there.

Expansion rules are same as with Vegas. You either pick 8 skates + 1 goalie or 7 forward/3 dmen/1 goalie.
For forwards:
Crosby
Malkin
Jake
Kapanen
Rust
2 of McCann/Zucker/Blueger
Defense:
Letang
Dumo
Marino (Not sure if we need to protect him or if he is exempt). If not, probably Pettersson (unless he is traded in the offseason.) Then it's Matheson I'd guess.
Goalie
Jarry
So the only issue is at forward. I think if you trade Zucker for futures, you can almost force Seattle to take Matheson since there is really no one else of value for the Penguins. Maybe they take DeSmith?

Right, so since Zucker has a clause doesn't he have to be protected? |

In the world of good problems to have: I have no idea who to take off the top PP when Malkin returns. They look so good. Can't believe we're top 10 after how we started. |

Tanev and Carter too. Pens are going to lose a good player. I'm starting to believe they might be better served with the cap space over Zucker. |

I cant imagine Seattle taking an old Jeff Carter with 1 year on his deal. If Tanev is the worst we loss, I'm fine with that.
I really think Seattle should consider Matheson. They will need dynamic defensemen early. While we all agree MAtheson has offensive upside and poor defensive play, that could be valuable to an early team needing support/ticket sales from good hockey. |

He has an M-NTC. I thought it was any kind of trade clause.

Good point about Carter. I love what Tanev brings to this team. I think we'll lose Bleugs or Tanev. Would be awesome if they took Matheson. |
