We have also been the authors of our own fate. Mobility data shows barely any change at all since the latest lockdown. What we are seeing is everyone who ignored the rules on Easter weekend, only this time, with variants.

Yep but not surprising in the least bit. Beautiful weather, the province was under a partial lockdown where it was ok to see people kinda/sorta' outside etc. and over a year in.

People just had enough and said (frank) it.

Without the variants we would be in a much better place but here we are.

No worries man, honestly I end up typing something like this out to a friend or a family member in a text message or email every few days it seems.

I don't even care when i get the emails/texts about "holy poop look how high the #'s are" and my wife and I have stopped watching the news most of the time.

Tell me how many vaccines have been put into arms, how many more you have to go and when we can expect that we will all be able to get back to some resemblance of a normal life. That's all I really want to hear about anymore......I am choosing to try and focus on the light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how small it appears some days because the tunnel feels like it suddenly got smaller, darker and longer.

I am trying to ignore it also, with less success than you. I follow Isaac Bogoch on Twitter and generally agree with what he says. My problem is that I get triggered by the endless left-wing bumhole who take every single topic he raises, deralis it and blames Ford.

I am not fan of the way the province opened stuff up and this happened. I also recognize that they were hearing it from the other side when stuff was closed. So sick of hearing people say that Ontario has 2 million doses in the freezer. They don't. What they do have, right after they receive a shipment, is already allocated. The only one not "flying off the shelf" is AZ. Further, they have closed mass clinics because they ran out of vaccine, more than once. This is NOT a distribution problem. This is a problem not getting enough vaccine; Federal.

So, The province poop the bed opening up everything and not keeping everything shut down and putting a curfew in place. The Fed's messed up with very weak agreements to procure vaccine on a timely basis. Canada was 48th this morning in % Population fully vaccinated and 29th on people receiving one dose. We have WAY more ability to administer than we have available.

Not once (to my knowledge) has Ontario hit the projected #'s........they are always made with the "if we keep everything as it is now" caveat.

This entire thing has been handled poorly from the get go, from both the federal and provincial levels of government. Half-assed measures that are purely reactionary after the fact followed by partial re openings, only to lock down and put out stay at home orders again has really resulted in people losing faith in government.

They should have done it right from the get go and have been playing catch up (and putting on the smoke and mirrors show to some degree) since then.

Whatever, I'm tired of it as many others are too. I've hit the wall of being scared of the #'s now.

The numbers aren’t predictions. They are forecasts based on all kinds of variables especially human behaviour which is incredibly hard to predict. They are there to provide a baseline to guide decision makers who unfortunately ignore them.

Just look at what’s happened in the last two weeks - 67% growth in hospitalization and 51% growth in ICU occupancy.

The point isn’t to be scared but we should take the government directions seriously. Unfortunately, they don’t go far enough in some areas.

Time to put away the clubs until next year. I’ll just cram them in the back of the shed with the camping equipment.

People just stopped listening, and now are crying to the government to solve all the problems NOW. Social media also helps idiots spread misinformation at a miraculous pace.

I would follow Steini Brown from UofT. I worked him when he was at Min of Health. He’s very good.

We’re at the point now where public health measures are going to be needed to hold us together till we get vaccines

Government doesn’t solve the problem but government ignoring or delaying acting encourages people to act in ways that add to the problem. It’s individual actions that spread this virus. A government that doesn’t have the courage to restrict those actions doesn’t deserve to govern.

Dude! I play in an open league.
We’ve won the “A” division championship 5 times in the last 10 years, lost in the finals another 3 times, and I’ll be 61 soon. Been playing with the same core group for 34 years. The Masters league is draft only, so no way we are going that route. Only difference now, the sons of some of the old guys are playing with us now. We love crushing the souls of these young 20 something franks who think this will be a cakewalk, calling us “gramps”.
The frustration on their faces is epic.

FFS, this is franking Canada. Hockey is the number one thing that unites us from coast to coast.
