Going through the Chevelle catalog right now. Kind of like a 'light' version of Tool without a;; the progression. Very good stuff.

I thought the movie was ok but don’t understand the connection to our current situation. What’s the analogy?

I'm probably late to the party, but check out the sexy buyout on Braden Holtby next year, only 500k against the cap.

What makes your post above so frustrating is that he’s not even through the first season of his contract and yet we are talking buy-out.

This begs the question; why was he signed to that contract in the first place?

Just heard the Green presser, he said...."Schmidt and Virtanen still on COVID list. Juolevi, Motte and Demko also won't play Sunday. But should be ready by Tuesday."

I'm guessing we see Dipietro on the bench. Boyd's first game. Looks like Pearson is still on IR (per cap friendly) and no mention if Bowey/Highmore are available yet. Doubt we'll see Lind yet either, Loui still edges him on the depth chart LOL

I'm guessing...

1. Insurance in case Demko wasn't ready to be the #1. 2. Because most people expected he'd come in not be complete trash. 3. Ian Clarke could help him get back on track. 4. Exposure to Seattle. 5. It's only a 2 year contract - most people were demanding more of these shorter term deals.

BTH, I don't remember many people, if any, complaining about the contract or the risk when it was signed.

Ya pretty much all the reasons I had.

He's hasn't been great, but the whole team is pretty trash as well.

Yup. Holtby is not to blame, Benning is.

I think this “exposure to Seattle” is not exactly accurate. Holtby will earn $2.9 million in 2020/21 and then $5.7 million in 2021/22. This backloading makes Holtby an undesirable pickup for Seattle, thus granting him a degree of expansion protection.

I know he’s only played 12 games or so but stats like .894 SV% and 3.57 GAA should not cost you an annual cap hit of $4.3 million.

No, it's accurate. We need to expose a Goalie next year. Signing Holtby gives us an eligible guy for Seattle regardless of who they pick. The contract expiring after next year might make him an appealing pick-up at the TDL as insurance. Much like the Avs did acquiring Dubnyk this year.

They have to have a goalie to expose – if they didn't have Holtby, they'd be forced to expose Demko as none of the other goalies we have qualify.

It's not about Seattle taking him, it's about providing a goalie within the rules of the expansion.

Sent you a PM the other day about it. I bought in at 5 cents, sold at 7 bought back in at 20

Thankfully (?) I'm poor so don't have much in there. Reading the Reddit forums of guys who sold off millions of Dogecoins in December and what... they'd be filthy rich right now

What's the scoop on those? Just read up about XRP, seems different than that usual idea of crypto

I’m not saying “do not sign a goalie to protect Demko”. That could have been done in the off season with someone much cheaper and probably achieved the same level of impact. Hell, you could have signed Cory Schneider for $700,000 per season and got better goaltending.

Did you ever think the protocols make you sick, think about it critically, they are all designed to weaken your immune system. The mask, bacteria that you exhale goes back into your lungs, distancing creates fear of your fellow man and we need germs for the immune system to pick up and block it, sitting cooped up in your house is never any good, go out get some sun it kills virises in seconds and hug each other it's good for you.
