Well if Seattle chooses to take a veteran, maybe with star power recognition, and to add to get to the cap floor then the choice is either JvR or Voracek.
If Ron Francis isn't able to find a reasonable puck mover/PP QB he may decide to take Ghost.
If Seattle goes the Vegas route they may end up going with NAK to fill a bottom 6 role that is young and cheap.
Finally depending on goaltending, I see enough vets out there to be chosen, but if they want to pad the farm system with depth they may pick Sandstrom.
Personally I think Seattle will pick either JvR or Voracek from the Flyers based on the players possibly available from other teams. I don't believe Seattle will get the luck Vegas received with trades. So they need anyone they can get that is a legit NHL player. Win for Seattle and a win for the Flyers for the cap space (it's a win if they use the space wisely). Sure the Flyers will lose a vet and skill, but the whole point of a prospect pool is to promote from within, if they are unable to do so then that is a failure on its own.
So, you WOULD have signed him to an extension on March 1, when the Flyers were 11-4-3 and based on the improvements of last season but now you wouldn't?

I'm out of market. Haven't seen. Does Hartnell shred the incompetence and non competitiveness, or does he toe the company line? - PLindbergh31
Company line but worse -- he can't say a bad word about "jakey" IMO it is unprofessional for an analyst to wither sound like they are friends or fanboys of the team they are analyzing

Do you see Sanheim seeking a raise near or above 5M per? He only has 2 years before UFA status and still hasn't been able to get out of the dreaded "has tons of potential" stage.
Out of Market as well -- Center Ice has started showing pre and post-game shows. pregame will be 30 minutes before the start of teh broadcast - corduroy

He is still figuring out the transition. He still has a few former teammates there, and they are friends of his.

I expect it to be a tough negotiation that cuts it close to an arbitration hearing.

Have Sanheim and Myers in the 9-0 game against the Rangers running on a loop when they negotiate contracts.

I barely want to watch the games, I'm not going to watch a pre-game show.
True. But ya gotta admit, that’s a pretty remarkable state for this team/roster to be in. Is it the case for any other team? Was it for any team for the Vegas ED? Don’t know, but doubt it.
Despite his poor play recently, I still think Seattle would take NAK out of that lot. Unless we get incredibly lucky, and they decide to take one of the others as their 1 or 2 high priced selections to get to the cap floor. Gotta hope Jake & JVR get some points the rest of the way here to entice them. Or maybe Ghost can stay “hot”.
Really hope Caps & Bruins meet in the playoffs. Would be a very entertaining series

Not to a 5 year deal. You think Fletcher will be employed by the Flyers 5 years from now? We both know the answer to that question.

Why the hell would they want NAK. I see them taking a Dman

The term is lengthy but that was the trade-off for a $3M cap hit, which he could have gotten on the open market. There's also an up-charge to get a player who will draw interest to agree to forego unrestricted free agency. In this case, it was in term. The cap hit -- which basically amounts to Laughton's current salary plus the money that would come back into cap space with David Schlemko's buyout expiring this summer -- isn't too bad.

I thought the term was great. He is 31 at the end of the deal. The cap hit allows for him to be traded pretty easily if it doesn't work out. I thought it was a surprisingly good deal all the way around. Longer term than expected at a lower cap hit than expected. The cap hit is what matters.
