Cool. McKenzies is usually the closest to how the actual draft plays out. First time theres a unanimous #1 for this class.

Tenny with a sick hit on Laf/Blackwood. Rags still score. Sums up his season. Good thing Butcher finally leaned his lesson on his 32nd Healthy scratch. Think he is rested enough there Ruff. Way to accelerate his decline. Cheers.

It was like getting raped. Sure, technically you got to have sex, which is usually cool: but instead you just feel completely violated. So yeah, technically you could say we played a hockey game, which is usually cool: but instead you just feel completely violated.

On the plus side, nobody is probably scarred for life.

On the negative side, we have to do this another dozen times.

So, a bit of a mixed bag....

Only good thing is there is no statute of limitations. We will have our day in court (draft day).... Doomed

Per Chris Ryan, Holtz is already serving his 7-day quarantine in NJ. So we'll get to see him in some Bingo games before the season ends

I'd be excited by Holtz's signing but, I've been hurt before. I'll wait till he has 2 or 3, 30 goal seasons under his belt in the NHL before I get too excited. I'm just about out of energy for moral victories and bloated make-believe advanced stats.

You forgot Letang 62nd overall in 05.. started doing work in the NHL in 07. The differences between our group and that group are astronomical, starting with Crosby being the youngest player to hit 100pts. I don't blame anyone for lack of confidence in our group's ceiling, however, I think it's best to just be patient and quell the "freak out".

was curious what you guys would want the Devils to do if they had the fortune of being able to choose between Owen Power or Luke Hughes in the draft

I was just illustrating how being in the bottom and getting top picks does result in something great. I wasnt comparing the talent of Crosby to Nico. THOUGH, if you watch Nico closely, his game does look like Crosby. I just noticed it last game, little fun fact.

If Power was Lindros on the backend, I'd pick him. But from what I understand he doesnt really use his big body as you would expect. With that said, idk.

yeah, I feel like any other teams would probably take Power over Hughes, but Vancouver or the Devils may feel differently for obvious reason

interesting thing to think about because I wonder how Jack Hughes would feel if they had the opportunity but passed on his brother

I made a comment about this before. Getting Luke would almost solidify Jack from leaving NJ. Something he might do if we there is no reason for him to resign and if we still are on the losing end.

So my thinking was if your top pick is a toss up, just pick the one that would have positive ripples for your team. The positive ripples would be making Jack even more happy and want to stay.

I think Owens and one or two other defenders can be considered the 'top tier'. So if the Devils are picking early enough to select one of them it would be hard to go with Hughes. Luke seems around a 5 - 7 pick. But depending on how it plays out they might skip Luke up a few spots. It really depends on how the team scouts perceived the differences between these guys.

On the other hand, our franchise drafted a guy named Stefan Matteau, which was completely indefensible (no offense) AND then passed on Claude Lemiux's kid to draft John Quenneville.

Also Jimbo, Thanks for the great question and not coming in here and asking us something like how much do our asses hurt from you guys spanking them all week. Which is plenty. They hurt plenty.....

Yeah i think Power or Beniers will likely be the top pick, but if the Devils or Canucks pick there then i think they will go Hughes. There isnt really much separation between the top 3 or 4 D and they can really all go in any order. I mean theres 6 or 7 players that could legitimately go #1.

I would personally take Hughes if the Devils get the #1 pick, but i wouldnt hate taking Power or even going with a forward like Guenther or Beniers. I'm not one of the "must draft a D or bust" nut. Theres 7 players i really like at the top and would be happy to end up with

I don't see what's nuts about going for a defender when we need one so badly and this draft is deep in them. I'm not against going BPA, but it seems we have a lot more and better quality forward prospects then defensive prospects.

Theres nothing nuts about going for a D, that's not what i said. Especially with the outlook of this teams makeup and prospect pool, and you can argue the top 3 players in this draft are D. Its a good pick. What I am saying is there are people who swear that its a terrible pick and a huge mistake by the organization if we go forward and need to take the best D available no matter where we pick and who is on the board. When in reality thats not the case, because in the end we need everything except centers. We need D prospects, specifically on the right side, but we also need another top 6 upside forward or two that can score. Which is why i think Guenther is the perfect pick for us if we don't go D

Especially now that we have the Isles pick, if we keep it there's good D that will be going in that range around the mid to late 1st round and should be targets

Ya BPA is fine unless its the goalie. Need too much help up front and back end right now. The late islanders pick seems a good place however for a forward in this draft.

Yeah there's gonna be good options at both F and D with the isles pick. Obviously if depends where that pick ends up but if we're looking at D my favorite targets in that range are Ceulemans and Chayka, maybe even Lambos falls to where that pick is. Then there's an abundance of forwards to target. The main guys im looking at are Coronato, L'Heureux, Pastujov, and even Raty could be worth a look if he continues to fall.

I think people need to realize that this draft is considered "weak" due to not having an elite talent at the top, and that it has nothing to do with the depth. That Isles pick is going to have some good value, and there are going to be good players available, especially if they don't win the division and lose in the first two rounds of the playoffs

Can’t argue with that and good point about looking for right side D specifically. I guess it’ll come down to the scouting department’s outlook and how Fritzy wants to build.
