So 1 girl 3 cups? Sounds right for sid

I don't care how many balls he has the fact is he has three cups and Claude has none.

Can't even be mad last night. Sorokin is a stud. The fact they actually came out with some pep and generated offense on the second game of a back to back was enough for me. They didn't do a whole lot of dumb sh!t on defense. Elliot looked good. I'll live with a point.
- Pelle31Forever

Sorokin is solid for sure, but have you noticed that he takes away every low but is vulnerable high? Yet the Flyers keep shooting low on him, examples are Sanheim and Hayes with point blank chances last night. I say you have to shoot high on Sorokin to have a chance to score.

I would not sign him for 3 years ... unless I do so at his current rate. He does not deserve a raise IMO.
- jd250

They aren't going to use a protection spot only to try to sign him to a 1 year deal.

There’s gotta be someone else they can play. This has always been an issue with NAK. He is what he is. A liability for penalties on a team with a craptastic PK. Recipe for disaster.
- hereticpride

It's really annoying because he had a nice stretch where he was easily the best forechecker on the team. The refs have his number now though.

Have to think Hayes will work his tail off this off-season and come back to prove himself. Throw Patrick and Lindblom on the 4th line, let them earn better than that, hope they raise their value.
I can honestly see next season lining up to be a good bounce back for most players. I think if you can ship out JVR, replace with speed and some skill. If Allison is as advertised and they find the D they need, with a Hart Bounce back, in a non Covid season the Flyers will do really well. Throw Patrick and Lindblom on the 4th line, let them earn better than that, hope they raise their value. Make not trades until you know you are getting full value. Sorry but I would keep Jake one more season.

Make the D trade in the off-season, heading into next years deadline add the parts you need to go deep in the PO's.

What a waste for G, he has given this team his all, just never has had the right mix to give him the shot, save 2010. You could still make the case that if you shut G down you shut the Flyers down. yeah, yeah, G is the captain and its his fault, this poop show is not one player nor could you expect G to lift this group to play better. The Mix is the issue and that is on Fletcher and to a lesser extent AV.

- wcorvette

Because of their respective NTCs I think the Flyers will be stuck with Hayes and G next year, but Fletcher has to find a way out of the JVR and Jake contracts. Seattle will take on some salary since they have to 1. field a competitive team and 2. at a minimum get to the cap floor, so perhaps JVR with only 2 years remaining is a good option for them; maybe the Flyers can throw in Haag and get a draft pick in return. With Jake, he has 3 years remaining so the Flyers will have to throw in a prospect and cover salary, or take salary back. I would do it however, this team needs a veteran makeover IMO.

In my mind the management level is mostly to blame for the product we are seeing on the ice. I mean waiving Gostisbehere and without him there is nobody that can outplay him on the pp. Provorov maybe but he makes a lot of bad decisions and mishandles the puck too much. When we need a goal Gost is always out there because he is the best option. Hayes has made me want to vomit regularly, he started well but has been trash for a couple months now. AV is not the answer as his head games with Konecny in particular clearly divides the group. AV watches this crap daily and seems to do nothing about it ??

I think the lack of practice is a factor, granted all teams are in the same boat so it does ring as an excuse. The coaching staff has done a poor job making adjustments no doubt.

This has by in large been the same core of players for a while now. It is obvious it isn't the right mix. The players have to be held accountable as well. Losing 7 games by 5 goals or more is an absolute disgrace. No other team in the League has been that non competitive. Just a lack of compete and pride.

Finally, Fletcher. By accounts he knew Niskanen was retiring shortly after the 2020 playoffs concluded. He did an incompetent job replacing him on a blueline that was eaten alive in the playoffs as it was. The biggest concern Flyers fans should have is having Fletcher in charge trying to build this roster into a contender. There is a decade track record showing he can't do it.

True, so as I said if I sign Sanheim for 3 more years, it needs to be at a very good rate for the team. Sanheim has not proved himself to worth more at this point, at least not to me.

NAK is not that good, he has very little offensive capability and is a liability in terms of his penalties. This is an example of a young player the Flyers should move on from while some might believe there is still upside in the player.

Wouldn't bother me either way. I like his forechecking ability for the 4th line, but don't like the amount of penalties he takes. I think some players are already higher than him on the depth chart as well. Frost, Allison, and Laczynksi will be pushing for spots next season. Could be a 13th forward maybe.

I agree that everyone, players, coaches and management, shares the responsibility and thus the blame for the free fall. I still want to believe that Fletcher is the type to learn from his mistakes, and I’m rooting for him to make some great decisions this offseason. No matter what else he does, if he doesn’t get a suitable partner for Provy, my opinion will change.

The results of the games are meaningless at this point. Elliott playing well means nothing as he won't be here next year. Dissecting how the team plays as a unit is really is inconsequential. There will be a ton of changes over the summer.

The Flyers started a 56 game schedule 7-2-1, they were so bad in the month of March they made the final 20 games irrelevant. That is pretty hard to do.

Outside of Couturier, Laughton, Provorov, and Hart there isn't anyone else on the roster who is guaranteed to be here next year. So outside of watching them, and maybe Farabee, and Allison that is all that is left this year.

- PLindbergh31

I'm not concerned with results. I'd of been ok if they lost in regulation. I just want to see effort and decent fundamental hockey. Whatever happens, happens.

Well, I do think the GM job must be a steep learning curve. Fletcher has basically had 2 seasons with the Flyers. One good, one bad. He is 1 for 2. If he follows this up with 2 straight good seasons, he will be back on track.

I hear you An argument can be made when you have a decade in Minnesota like Fletcher had, you don't get a second chance. Not in the mood for arguing, lord knows this thread has enough of that.

I got you. I've liked the small sample from Allison thus far. Was hoping Hart could build on his strong start against the Penguins, maybe that happens Thursday at MSG.

I think Hagg has played himself into a trade chip, a sweetener. I am on the side of keeping Jake 1 more season, I don't want to expend the assets to move him and they really have no one to replace what he brings. Plus next year is a crap shoot, could be more of the same or they find their grove and can make a couple rounds. I think JVR with 2 years left is the play, I think the Cracken will need someone who puts the puck in the net. After that you really can't move much or you would be selling really low. Best case is the Flyers finish bottom 10 in the league, get a decent pick and focus on next season. They have a ton of assets to get a D or change up the mix. You can leave G, Jake and Coots together then add speed to fix the other lines. Leaves you 2 spots to fit in some speed and grit. You get lucky and Patrick actually becomes a decent 3rd line center, that would be great, put Laughton on the 4th and build a great 4th line. Watch someone like a Sheary with the Caps, speed and hard on the puck he really adds to the Caps group. Then they have Hagelin who is fast and tough on the puck, they are great compliments to the talent the Caps have. THE MIX, THEY HAVE IT AND FLETCHER BLEW IT

G-Coots-Jake
Farabee-Hayes-Allison
?-Laughton-TK
Oskar-Patrick-?

On D if you add a top 2 who goes? I think I would rather trade Braun but I could see them moving out Hagg then Braun later. You have York as the wild card. The issue is Ghost still has value on the ice, Provy is not the PP QB Ghost is, Ghost brings elements the other D don't, so who do you ice. Then honestly so does Morin, he actually uses his size to defend, makes decent plays and is the only grit they have.

Provy NG
Sanheim Myers
Ghost Morin Braun Hagg York

Provy, NG
Sanheim, Myers
Ghost Morin or Braun

The QO needs to be $3,250,000, so I am pretty sure the cap hit will be higher than that regardless of deal length.

Imo he has more freedom when paired with a stay at home type. Maybe reads or maybe Myers. Heating in to far as well. Both can skate and join the rush doesn’t mean they always should.

What are the chances that the Flyers, as a whole, were hit really hard by the COVID outbreak but they're not saying anything?

It's the only logical thing that I can really come up with to explain such a drastic slide from last season. Last season was great because the team was fun. This year? It's like going to the dentist.

Minimal. It's not that they are looking gassed, and they are looking worse in the first few mins of the game than the last.

NAK is absolutely a good bottom 6 player. He has had a rough season with penalties but he proved last season he is capable of being disciplined. He's exactly the guy I want on our 4th line. Discipline issues can be fixed.

in my opinion that isn't really a good excuse though. this season has been extremely disappointing and frustrating on a lot of levels. i definitely expected them to be worse defensively, but not quite as bad as they have been.
