I mention those three options specifically because all 3 have a track record of taking so-so teams on paper to greater than expected success. That's exactly what I believe the Sabres need right now and going forward - chilliard77
AND then COmpletely burn out there welcome.
We have a guy thats actually doing his job and well. Might as well stick with whats working.
Theres reasons why the mentioned guys dont have jobs or just keep being fired after maybe a few years.

I'd love to keep him on as an associate coach - chilliard77
Granado has these same players, (minus) the nhl vets that were traded, playing excellent hockey.
They have a system and granado is teaching them.
He's an educator.
99% sure he's the coach next year.

Great to see us finding some success under an interim coach. I am still of the opinion that we need to hire the best experienced coach available (Bruce, Gallant, Torts-if fired) for next season. - chilliard77
Why?
I like meatballs much better than BBQ, although I do like a good BBQ dinner.
BBQ relies heavily on his Vets...this teams' vet absolutely suck for the most part.
Gallant would be next in line, but his track record of getting fired after relatively short stints is a red flag to me...need to understand the real stories there from VGK and Panthers.
The Don has this team playing in remarkable fashion with life and energy and seems like a solid teacher of the game to a still relatively young roster.
Let's see how the balance of the season against alot of PO contending teams |

Agree, and the guy has won everywhere he's been. If it wasn't for some really bad luck in his life, probably would have been a NHL HC already. |

I'm of the opinion that you are underselling Granato's actual ability to coach, and that he's simply just throwing them all out there to just play. He has tough, effective practices. He's developing kids at a rapid rate. He has three scoring lines. He's beating good teams with an aggressive, hard to play against style. Granato's been around the game for a long, long time. He's coached at many levels. He sounds and shows that he knows what he's doing.
These are not signs that he's simply standing there and throwing them out onto the ice. He's actually coaching them. - TheSabresTaco
I’d like to see some experienced assistant coaches on Don’s staff if they bring him back next year.
Do you trust Don with guiding this team to the playoffs in what could be Eichel’s last year here if it goes south ? |

I agree let's see how the the last 11 games go, see how they finish with 5 games against Boston, 2 each against the the Islanders Pens and Rangers. See if they keep moving the needle upwards. |

That’s the route you go. Don at the top surrounded by veteran experience allowing him to be mentored |

Could have, could this have been a plan all along, especially when they brought Appert in to coach Rochester. I mean Appert followed Granato as HC for the USNDP. |

I trust Don as much as I trust any veteran coach, as Don has shown exactly what, ideally, they potentially could too. The talent on this team, today, can any of you say that anyone out there right now could have a better record? The last time all of the pieces lined up like this was under Lindy, as far as what the fans expect to see out of the coach.
I am 100% with you, that Don must hire quality, experienced, modern coaches. |

I won’t argue that.
Ellis and Girardi are doing an admirable job but having them as development coaches is ideal and what they should be doing. Seems to be working with how are young guys are looking |

Pegulas got lucky that Botterill hired Krueger who in turn hired a man that was his total opposite in coaching philosophy.

Some said that Donny would be a bad coach because of whatever records he had on other teams. Without giving the man a chance. Interesting. |

I would think that they should be on the ice for all NHL practices too. As development coaches, next season.

When he was HC for St. Louis's AHL team he was diagnosed with Cancer, and then again when he was with Chicago he had a flare up and had to go through treatments again. |

The guys has been in hockey his whole life. While the illusion of a guardrail in an assistant coach might sound appealing it isn't necessary. He should hire people that he thinks have talent and are hungry. Stay aggressive.

Guess they didn't read up on him, cause he has won Championship's as a HC in College, and the AHL |

Wonder if he brings in Nick Fohr |

would you rather have the sabres:
a.) lose all five to the bruins and pretty much assure a top-3/4 pick?
b.) win all five against the bruins and drop to the 5/6 range |

I've mentioned this before, kagm has been "groomed" for this position for years.
Wouldn't suprise me, in regards to granato.
Others, I'm sure its lucky kim p. |
