This year, scouts are going to have to lean on character and drive, a lot, to estimate how some of these kids are going to develop. Cause for some of them who missed a very significant amount of development and play time, you're not going to have those 'he started the year slow and absolutely dominated later on' like the Jack Quinn's of the world. Like we've been hearing, it's going to be a wild west of a draft here. |

If we get #1 and Take power ill KMS. - DirtyDan
You literally just said to get over taking Quinn, he COULD be better than Rossi or Perfetti, followed up by saying this, even though professional scouts paid to do this have him ranked 1.. |

Can't go wrong with either. Both will be studs. If Beniers is there you take him though. - DirtyDan
I take Beniers. You want to set a culture, a way the Sabres play, he's a great guy to do it with.

It's an emotional opinion (don't take a D), versus what's already done (Quinn) |

Guenther is 6’1. He can afford to add 20 pounds of muscle like any other 18 year old kid.
WHL is also historically the toughest of the Canadian leagues to score in, however I can’t speak for the quality of hockey this year cause it’s a crap shoot.
I think you may be thinking of the QMJHL as the easy league ?
Only criticism I have of Guenther right now is that he’s strictly a winger |

Yeah, and for a lot of people it's an emotional opinion to reach for a guy when his teammate who had outperformed him, was ranked higher, and taken one spot later was past over. Quinn will get the Reinhart treatment from me, if Rossi does a Draisaitl and blows up. At least Sam wasn't a reach. |

Exactly. There's no McDavid here. Hell there's not even a Lafreniere. There's a nice little pile of great players up front who all seem to be project as equally impactful. Winning 1 OA is nice, but the success of this team and for the individuals/kids is much more important to me.

I think he's just saying to get over it because what's done is done. We can judge the pick when the kid is in his mid 20's. Or 'when it's a situation where' Rossi is Braydon Point and Jack Quinn is Rickard Rakell.
I'm a Quinn stan because of his rapid development and his character. Not saying KA made the correct choice, but I will continue to like him until he gives me a reason not to. AHL was probably a bit of a reach for him this season, which is what it is, and I'd bet my house that people round here would be way more excited about him in a normal season, playing in the OHL. |

What's a potential top line forward/top pairing D cost controlled for 3 years in the NHL in a flat cap era worth?

A boat load.
Look at Vegas or St Louis or Washington.

Bob's top 15 prospects have all played games this season. I believe only two of them would have played in the OHL if it weren't shut down. |

I see him at 6 ft 166lbs which is smallllll. But yes he can add weight like any regular human being.
WHL is historically easy to play in. The Q consistently has better hockey than out west.

So you want to use our first to get a young high quality, proven roster player. In a flat cap, why do any teams want to part with a young proven talent for a young unproven talent? I think your target area is teams that have players that they can't pay. |

You are right, The Sabres need more prospects that wont play in the NHL next year.
Its not like this team is desperate to make the playoffs or anything.

Historically, the WHL focuses on defense, while the Q focuses on offense.
