You weren't first to say so. fair enough. It is the case in the US though.
- SMP8719

It is, but the same people that have brought this to light are saying they don't think hospitals are using it to milk money. It's just something that gets distorted by social media.

I think you’re over-analyzing it. But 1620 is the correct answer.

Yeah, that's what the old man was telling me earlier today.
You fly that Flames flag and you'll be asking for it

- dbot

Went for margs at your favourite little beach bar. Had too many, went home short my flip flops. I blame the tequia, anytime it comes in a bleach bottle you know it’s going to be good.
Most Mexicans don’t know what that Flaming C flag on my cart stands for but do get the odd heckle from the streets.

You can't use data from pandemics that have run their course and compare them to ones that are still in their infancy.

They're trying to prevent getting into a spanish flu type of situation.

Ebola for example has killed very few people, but has killed roughly 2/3's of people that have been ill with it.

A death rate would be people that have died vs people that have caught it.

- golfingsince

You also can’t compare a pandemic where we do have hospitals, ventilators, things to do at home while you’re isolating, delivery services, well integrated information systems, high quality and high tech PPE etc etc to any of those events from 100+ years ago...

I think what you’re saying is that we have the medical expertise and knowledge to avoid a similar situation?

I agree

Ha, wait, what? Last year I did a 10 second Google search for plague remedies and have been trying different things out:

-Bloodletting
-Rubbing onions, herbs or a chopped up snake on the boils or cutting up a pigeon and rubbing it over an infected body
-Drinking vinegar, eating crushed minerals, arsenic, mercury or even ten-year-old treacle!
-Sitting close to a fire or in a sewer to drive out the fever, or fumigating the house with herbs to purify the air.

You're telling me we've advanced as a society?

Was talking about US hospitals. Hadn't looked up ours, but they do get paid more. If you think money isn't enough incentive .......

It’s standard for Medicare to pay a hospital roughly three times as much for a patient who goes on a ventilator, as for one who doesn’t.

Medicare is paying a 20% add-on to its regular hospital payments for the treatment of COVID-19 victims. That’s a result of a federal stimulus law.

- SMP8719

That's not deaths as first posted by you. The above misrepresents your Covid labelling for profit narrative. Ventilator care is more costly then most patient treatment monitoring. Plus Medicare is not the most used insurance and the one with the most frugal payouts.

The world added a record-setting 5,236,922 new Covid-19 cases over the last seven days, according to data published Tuesday from the World Health Organization.

This beats the previous record for new cases in a week of 5.04 million, set the week of Jan. 4, 2021.

I dunno, Twitter going off about something, but nobody is saying what exactly.

One said “who made out worse Pelosi or the NHL”, another “The NHL is just the worst”.

It’s like they sent out an I’m sorry to Derek Chaivin’s family or something...

Edit, Yup, pretty much

Just saw this on Twitter

Mind blowing stat>> Patrick Marleau of #SJSharks has appeared in at least one game with 37% of every #NHL player who has ever played in the 104 year history of the league (3009 of 8100)
