The backup would be Allen, not on the ice for this hypothetical situation, which obviously was evocated with an humoristic intention more than with a spirit of scientific rigor and exactitude. But thanks for elevating our knowledge and deepening our conceptions of the world. - Réal_Ruelle

So again, you believe Mete would have or could have helped...
And Mete didn't fit in because he sucks, you mental midget - obie Mete would/could help this D..anyone with a skating pulse....would help...its too slow....and lumbering...he might not be the long term solution, but what they have right now is not working. Try that.

Owen Power with Chabot and Brannstrom (if he develops) could be a pretty solid core in a few years. I like Zub too |

Molson's hand is attached to a very limp wrist. I only see one of those two scenarios forcing him into action and even then I can see him saying 21/22 is the make or break year - Takemedrunkimhome
the reason i don't think a playoff appearance alone is enough for him to survive is that the only reason they will have made it is that 7-1-2 start. their record since then is one of the worst in the NHL. coming on the heels of last season... this is, objectively, a bad hockey team.
but then again, Bergevin has done nothing in 9 years to show he can build a good, sustainable team and he still has a job so who the (frank) knows. |

if you watched the games this season you'll notice he wasn't a short-term solution either... you could consider him as a "short solution" though, and there's nothing wrong with that |

Sanderson, Bernard-Docker and Thompson as well. Could be scary if it works out. Glad they have jack poop at centre outside of Norris (unless Stutzle switches which isn't clear yet). |

I don't think MB should stay but I've felt that for years. Simply I think Molson is too soft and weak and would rather keep the status quo than to replace or, heaven forbid, consider interviewing the top candidates even if they aren't pure laine |

No idea... but if what you're saying is accurate, they would have 1 move left, might be a good idea to use it on Caufield now, no? - obie
Yes, but they said they want to keep it in case they need it... I think they are confused because every game i watch screams to me they need it. |

Best thing that can happen is to miss the playoffs and Bergevin is fired. Yes he made some nice trades and acquisitions but they were made based on a severely flawed plan.
He's convinced that their window is Price and Weber's careers but neither have been elite for a long time now. At the moment they're mediocre at best players.
His philosophy is to make it to the playoffs and anything can happen. His goal should be to build a team that is considered a cup contender because that gives you a much better chance of success instead of hoping for a Cinderella story. He points to the Blues as a model to emulate but how often does a team with no elite talent ride a hot goalie all the way to the cup? When will it happen again?
The teams who have the highest probability of winning, the teams who are considered cup favorites at the start of every season have layers of elite talent spread across all positions, and they got that talent from drafting high for consecutive seasons. The habs don't have one elite player.
Again, yes Bergevin made some nice moves, but they are all complimentary players. Who are they complimenting? |

there were games when he played brilliantly next to Romanov...then the last game he was beaten badly...but the D is too old too slow...again Mete isn't the answer but he wasn't the problem.....at this rate they might back in to the playoffs...unless the Canucks overtake them....the team needs young fresh kids....at least there are some in Laval...time for a change |

Tarasenko, O'Reilly, Pietrangelo were elite players that year i would say.
