well my point was more that no player on this team is anything close to what those players are. whether or not they're elite is certainly a bit more subjective yes. but i think we can all agree that this team is terrible and we hate them. - DoubleDown
Please. Danault is basically O'Reilly. EE told me so. |

Agreed. To be fair to Bergevin we have a two and a half decade sample size that shows us drafting 15th every year doesn't work. It's not just his tenure. And he has worked his ass off doing the best he can. |

he's not but he's also using a straw man argument. i don't see anyone concerned that they're going to ruin Caufield. everyone just thinks it's kind of stupid that he's not playing games right now in either the NHL or the AHL. and also that he's not going to make much of a difference if he does get into an NHL game right now. not with this group.

I disagree with the ending... their biggest need right now is goals, also happens to be what he does best |

the league is full of elite players drafted outside of the top10. one would think that after 18 years Tréveur would have found one. just one.
he has not drafted a 70 pt player in over 18 years........

Pacioretty is probably the closest to an elite player he's ever drafted...
Maybe PK Subban for a couple of years... |

HABS WILL RUIN CAUFIELD - Not_Yan
Well, I just don't get why they called him up to be honest. I'd rather have him stay with the Rocket and play games this week. |

There was at least one game scheduled. Which is more than he will play this week.
Also a chance to continue working with Bouchard, with a team where the mood is great at the moment, instead of practicing on the taxi squad of a team with frustrated veterans. |

You mean, other than wasting the first 5 years on the job trying to put plugs in the lineup with has-beens and 4th liners, before finally deciding that going with picks and prospects was the way?
And even now, he can't seem to help himself with getting more plugs to throw into the line-up?
Other than that, sure, decent job. |

I don't think Caufield will have a hard time finding the back of the net on a regular basis, as soon he steps onto NHL ice... no more of a hard time then any F currently on the team not named Toffoli, Anderson or Gallagher anyway... he comes in next game and gets more goals the rest of the year than Drouin, Armia, Lehkonen, Byron, Staal, Danault, and probably a few others too... |

not being able to create a trade market for such a terrific player is another reason Bergevin should be fired
