its not even about the vaccine roleout and prioritizing etc..we were never going to be able to vaccinate out of the problems... there was plenty of data and countries that had a head start on what we were about to see happen....the province just needed to listen to the proper advise and experts..all whats going on now was predicted... the anger is over how it was just ignored... and now they just want to play the blame game back and forth...rolling out half assed BS measure (over and over) ..for the past year

everything thats happening was predictable and avoidable.

- senstroll

I disagree. It was predictable and avoidable ...but was so in the face of a slow, underwhelming and late roll out of vaccines in this country. Vaccines are the silver bullet ...like they are with every virus.

But I completely agree. In the face of a negligent vaccine procurement program Ontario did a poopty job at protecting us from ourselves.

I have that too! I sneeze twice. Sometimes a hatty. I never knew what it was called. It's a genetic mutation.

Most business owners can't afford to shut down, they could lose everything that they and their families have, is that worse than covid?
Losing you house I believe would be.

Can you look at a bright light at home and make yourself sneeze

It's more difficult to trigger with indoor lights, but sometimes. It's the transition from shade to sun that really does it.

It's basically near impossible for me to die from this. The alcohol in my veins flushes out the virus.

is that a threat?

I'm sure you've got lots personal experience with the receiving end of that process after all those cabinet meetings.

Do you practice self-flagellation when you are not on these boards also?

I definitely got the vaccine side effects...feels like a hangover. I feel like a caesar would fix this but I don't drink anymore 😬

People look at me like I am Typhoid Mary!

Picture when we are all back at our jobs/offices and then someone comes to work coughing and sneezing.

I think the intolerance for that will be one of the biggest changes in our society when this is under control.

Tim Hortons is hiring chefs if their latest commercial is to be believe...and definitely not just hiring 40+ year old Filipino women.

All true but the UK and Israel are further ahead in vaccinations and both have seen dramatic improvements.

Even here, with cases rising exponentially, the death rate is being heavily controlled by vaccinations.

My only point is both measures are important and nobody should be escaping blame. The UK had the advantage of vaccine manufacturing. Israel did not. So opportunities existed ...especially for a wealthy country like Canada.

- The Law

Absolutely death rates everywhere have been lowered by getting vaccines into LTC facilities, etc. But in terms of case growth and ICUs, you can’t stop exponential growth with a linear response. (I wish I could take credit for that line.). You need to affect the actions of the broader population.

On another topic, you been following Chauvin? Expectations?

Sure he has known. He also knows the poop he gets on the other side for closing everything.

Pretty convenient that our standing somewhere around 45th in the world in vaccination is somehow NOT a problem, but Ford's decisions are. Wouldn't have made a difference??You know the real world data is showing it does make a difference.

The US has been a poop-show since Day 1, and you still have 200 million people running around unvaccinated and not paying attention to much social distancing and THAT is your argument that more timely arrival of vaccine would not have mattered?

I see very few people here who actually are willing to take a step back and look at the contributing blame towards anything in that aligns with their politics.

- Aetherial

I blame everyone but me for everything, all the time.

Considering we have no vaccine production facilities (1st blame goes to Mulroney, then to every federal government after that), Canada is doing OK.

If they get Coid they can collect under the federal program.

EI - Federal
CPP - Federal
Tax Admin - CRA, Federal
Worker's compensation - Federal
CERB- Federal

Paid sick days (beyond what is available Federally)... somehow this became provincial and is Doug Ford's fault.

Meanwhile, the Liberals finally release a budget after 2 years that has 100B in new spending and no new cash for paid sick days. I am assuming we are blaming Doug Ford for that also.

- Aetherial

This was a total WTF moment for me, both the $ amount of new spending announced in the federal budget + the fact it has no sick days. The debt Canada keeps adding to is a bit scary. I just pray that someone has told our PM about how budgets and finances actually work and he understands it better than he did back in 2014.....
