Heard a good one yesterday.

Some group advocating for everyone who gets vaccinated to get 3 weeks off, paid.

Yeah, uh, who is going to pay and what happens to our economy and supply chains when the entire adult population working in those areas is on rolling 3 week vacations.

Better buy toilet paper and lysol wipes, again.

a start would be paying someone who get covid to be able to stay home

Civil rights violation!!

They can't do this to us!

Ford's fault.

I'm no Ford fan but the inconsistency in the complaints is very frustrating.

Yes but if employers start paying for someone to stay home because they have covid, then employers will one day have to pay for people to stay home when they have any kind of debilitating or transmissible illness.

Is that really the kind of world we want to live in?

Good luck with that, not saying it shouldn't be done but does municipal government have that power?
- bobbyisno1

I think Public Health does.

If they get Coid they can collect under the federal program.

EI - Federal
CPP - Federal
Tax Admin - CRA, Federal
Worker's compensation - Federal
CERB- Federal

Paid sick days (beyond what is available Federally)... somehow this became provincial and is Doug Ford's fault.

Meanwhile, the Liberals finally release a budget after 2 years that has 100B in new spending and no new cash for paid sick days. I am assuming we are blaming Doug Ford for that also.

Prior to marrying a Canadian, my brother-in-law was unaware that we called a couch a chesterfield. So obviously he was also unaware of the term "chesterfield rugby."

Believe it or not, there is a Chesterfield Rugby club.

Despite pleas for over 25 years from me and my brothers, he has never bought us any Chesterfield Rugby merchandise.

I do, however, have a Chesterfield FC jersey and a tie. I can assure you, there are no natural fibres in the tie.

The franking team are named the Spireites - named after the crooked spire in the town church, made famous in the novel Lady Chatterley's Lover.

If I gave you $1,000,000, could you come up with a softer name for a team than one named after the crooked spire in the town church, made famous in the novel Lady Chatterley's Lover?

You could not.

In all my life, Ive never heard anyone in Canada refer to a couch as a "chesterfield"

For covid, yes.

Otherwise, no. I am not sure what is legislated. Our company does, but I am not sure what other companies/industries do?

Just for clarity ....if employees have tested positive they stay home and get a poopty Federal benefit ~$500 per week.

The bigger issue is the moment in the morning when an employee feels a sore throat or runny nose and has to go to work and maybe take transit to make a buck b/c they have no paid sick time and can't work from home.

The problem, I think, for me was that a year ago when they introduced quick and fairly surprising legislation at both the Federal and Provincial levels across the country, it was evident that it had a number of holes and problems and left many people and many obvious situations unaccounted for.

But it was quick and it was bound to be full of holes, but getting something done immediately was impressive and they all deserved their kudos.

Unfortunately they have all sat on those kudos and have done little to improve upon the initial plan. They could have refined this to better benefit the citizenry and better tailor itself towards helping those individuals directly affected by Covid, and better assisting industries and businesses that were not in a position to help themselves (Bobby here is a good example).

Socially those of us who were not financially impacted by this pandemic are Covid-exhausted, but that is nothing compared to the financial, mental and emotional impact to those who were impacted. I still think that's the crux of the wear.

Ya, Peel Public Health is the authority in Peel that has said employers will be shut down if they have 5 positive tests in 2 weeks ("outbreak").

As Wedgie pointed out the other day.
People lose their poop no matter which way he goes.

Then people get it in their head that something is Provincial, and everyone who leans left in their politics blames Ford immediately.

100B in new spending of our tax dollars and no improvements to paid sick days... but somehow this is Ford's fault.

Believe it or not, I don't like some of the decisions also and were there an election tomorrow, I would spoil my ballot, but the over the top blame for Ford the last couple weeks is (frank)ing ridiculous.
