BUT, the Penguins are now the 1st team in the NHL history to win a game after being outscored by 5+ in the 3rd period though. Previous teams were 0-270 in the regular season and 0-9 in the playoffs - vlongo4419

well thats one way to make the history books, for us I mean.

Lets be honest here. Mukhamadulin was a panic pick. Management thought for sure schneider was going to be there at pick 20. When the rangers traded up to pick 19 and took him, the devils had no idea what to do and they were on the clock.

What???? Why are you guys discounting Shak already? He was Russias top D in the U20, and was taking on a larger role in his 2nd season in the KHL (he is 19). Add the fact that he is 6'5" and very mobile, and I see why he was taken as a potential late 1st steal. I have zero issues with drafting this prospect.

And whoever was saying Zaitsev is the better prospect...... Zaitsev is 22, and had just 4 points after his 2nd KHL season. Shak is the better prospect and it was simply unfortunate how his season was cut short due to injury. I think Shak and Mercer were two gems found late in the 1st.

Pitts took their foot off the gas. Sharangovich played great as usual, driving offense. It's not fair that with our current 4 centres Nico, Hughes, Zacha, Mcleod (drafted 1,1,6,12 overall!!!!!!), Sharagovich simply is the best of the bunch right now, in his rookie season and drafted in the 5th rd........ People can say all they want about Zacha, but unless he is willing to play 3LW, he really has lost his role with this club.

Butch notched 3 points. Time to scratch him again Ruff!

My favorite part of the game was the back handed flip / dump-in from center ice that beat Wedgewood.

Sharamgoalvich does look pretty good though.

Zacha is our best forward on the pk, has been our best forward on the pp, can play wing or center, I think he has a pretty solidified role at this point.

Shero deserves more credit. Or atleast his scouting staff does... these guys are finally starting to pan out and some
Of his late round picks like sharangovich and maltsev are proving to be nhl players. His trades brought in merkely and bahl. He also picked fitz to be his assistant. Great gm too bad he jumped the gun with those grabner type trades

You have to look at our veterans and give them a harsh assessment for where we are at this point. Here's the guys I am critical of:

Subban is not good enough. He is terrible positionally, and not scoring nearly enough for someone who is that large of a liability.

Severson..... One of my favourite D on this squad over the years, yet he is not getting the job done in his own zone. 7 seasons in the NHL, most as a top pairing, and not a single + season to his name. He is a -116 as a Devil, and has yet to notch a 40 point season. I want to keep him going forward, but he needs to be better.

Zacha. Lowest season total of 24, career high 32 points..... He can play Centre, but not as well as Nico/Hughes/Sharan. He can play LW, but not in a top 6 role. Honestly, I look at him as an overrated Marcus Johansson. Only difference is Mojo is better at putting up points. Zacha is strickly a PK specialist.

I am getting tired of the losing culture. I am tired of being the softest team in the league as well. Ott and Ahaheim are 1st and 2nd in fights. Our team is worse than them, and have even fewer fights and hits than Buffalo......

We're starting to get crowded at forward in terms of prospects that are ready or almost ready to come. I could definitely see a forward or two moved in the offseason, maybe for defensive help. I think Zacha will be that guy if that type of move is made. While he's having a good season point-wise for his standards, his underlying and defensive numbers are actually pretty bad and some of the worst of his career. If you can "sell high" on him for putting up his best PPG of his career then you do it, and try to package him for an upgrade at D if possible

If you keep him, we need to realize his ceiling is 3rd line winger and PP specialist for his shot. Because he sucks at center, and has made every winger worse when hes playing center for them.

I think we need to see more of Zacha at LW before I write him off. He’s had a few games here and there but needs to play a season on the left.

Bahl shouldn't be anywhere near making the team with how he's played this season, he's still another year or two away at a minimum. Every single other rookie D in Bing has been better than him.

Siegenthaler will be on the team.

Im assuming atleast one of Foote, Mercer, or Holtz will make the team out of camp, but i wouldnt hate for all of them to be in the minors. This team needs vets up front, so bring one or two in and let all of the kids (Foote, Holtz, Mercer, Thompson, and Clarke) all stay in the AHL next season, atleast to start.

Lines at morning skate indicate that Studenic and Foote are coming out for Bratt and Zacha. Also Ty is skating as an extra, so he likely isn't ready:

Kuokknanen-Hughes-Sharangovich
Zacha-Hischier-Bastian
Wood-McLeod-Bratt
Johnsson-Boqvist-Merkley

Murray-Tenny
Siegenthaler-Sevo
Butcher-Carrick

Weird to see the BMW line split up. I'd think Bratt with Hischier would be better offensively but this does give both our 1C and 2C some decent size wingers. For what we can put together it looks pretty balanced.

No idea. Maybe just managing his games? He only has 4 left before he would burn the first year of his ELC, and i doubt the team wants that happening. But i'd rather him just play in the next 4 to hit the max asap then go finish the season in Bingo on a line with Holtz

..because Johnsson obviously needs the ice time for development..
These lines are screwy. Putt Bratt with Zacha and Hischier.. 2 guys that he has always had chemistry with while on separate lines with each of them.. it would stand to reason all 3 together would be good. Nah, put Bastian there.. and Bratt with Wood and McLeod -_-. At least Zacha is at the LW. That's the good thing here.

gosh I wish this was a top heavy draft -_-.. with projected elite franchise players available...
maybe drafting Luke Hughes will be what allows Jack to stay, and maybe that's winning in itself even if Luke ends up being just average.

Without UFAs this is my lineup, with all our kids except a RHD remaining in the minors. We play Johnsson to try to hopefully trade him at the deadline (I can't imagine us being buyers). But who do we take out for a top 6 UFA? We'll see if Zacha can thrive with Hischier, but that LW spot could be upgraded and bump Zacha to 3rd line and Johnsson somewhere else. These right wingers are showing some ability, but I suppose the right side could be upgraded too.
Who are the weak links here? Merkley? Kuokkanen? Johnsson?.. in that order?

Zacha- Hischier - Bratt
Sharo - Hughes - Kuokkanen
Wood - McLeod - Bastian
Johnsson - Boqvist - Merkley

Smith - Severson
Siegenthaler - Walsh?
Butcher - Subban

so many UFAs available for help on D. I doubt our kids are ready to step up. I'm kind of done with Butcher. I like Siegenthaler, but we need another guys. Dougie Hamilton will be a UFA! Throw the kitchen sink at him? Pair him with Smith and move Severson with Siegenthaler? lol
