It definitely is a head scratcher but he probably didn't perform in the areas he was challenged too. And you can't just give him minutes if he isn't doing what he's asked to do.

That said, putting him on a line with other youngsters is not ideal for him. Maybe they should move him back down to Bing with Boqvist and have Holtz join that line. See what that Trio can do together in the AHL.

That's exactly what I've wanted to see since Holtz finished his quarantine, a Foote-Boqvist-Holtz line. Instead, both Foote and Bo are playing 4th line minutes with zero special teams, and Holtz is playing with guys like Seney and Talvitie on his line lol. Not the best situation for any of them

It's so nice today. I wish there wasn't a Devils game to go and ruin it.

Holtz just scored his 1st goal for Bingo. 1T clapper from the faceoff dot on the PP, Clarke with the assist

Nice view of it: https://twitter.com/mashm.../1387536300249657344?s=19

I wonder if he sticks with 9, i've heard that he said he wants to wear 10. So many people bought 88 jerseys for him already and im gonna feel real bad if he goes with 9 or 10 lol

I just don't understand why they continue to do this with some young players. Foote gets brought up and plays okay in 2 games, then they keep him around and he sits in the press box for multiple games, and when he finally gets put back into a game and gets the least amount of ice time on the team. Like why? Put him back in Bingo to continue playing top minutes and getting PP time.

Ruff has done a poor job showcasing any potential future talent. He puts the same losing recipe on the ice for the bulk of the reps every night. You healthy scratch a guy for a game, two in a row tops to send a message. What he did with Butcher is mental warfare, and in no way giving him a chance to show what he can do. I have been critical of the kids play as well, but he was a tradable asset prior to Ruff's arrival. Still, Butch is 2nd among D in PPG.

Now is the time of year that you showcase a player or two with regular top 6 guys and see what they can do. Foote should be on the top line to close out the season. Healthy scratch Johnsson and Zacha. They played the most minutes this season and it's meaningless at this point so why not get a few new bodies in the mix?

Let Senn and Wedgewood finish off the season. Blackwood has tried his best to keep us in games and deserves a break.

I’d say rock with Foote-Clarke-Holtz in the Bing but I really don’t know if Clarke and whoever have chemistry there. Just seems to make sense as all 3 seem to be at similar levels of ability.

Could be a way to see if he can man his own line and drive the offense? He wont have to do this when he makes it in the NHL but it can't hurt to try it in the AHL.

Not sure how many Bing games are left but might not make sense at this point. But then neither does playing Foote for 8 minutes in the NHL....

Bahl is starting tonight against Philly, per Stein. Last I heard he wasn’t ready. Should be fun.

The only thing i can think of is they're rewarding for him for making some progress the last few games. I would've called up Jacobs before him but he got hurt last night. Also Vukojevic too, but his ELC doesn't kick in until next season so he can't get called up. Whatever, im fine with them giving guys a look the last few games here. Even Okhotiuk too i wouldve given the call over Bahl at this point, but maybe hes next?

With the amount of games left I think they're going to call up guys and just give them a game or two to get a taste of the NHL.

Nothing wrong with throwing the kid in the fire at this point. If anything, seeing the professionalism and level of training it takes to play in this league will be motivational during his off-season. I have no problem with humbling the kid for a few games leading up to another long summer of training.

#10 should be in the rafters with the other greats.
The only question is can you put it up there twice? Once for Pelley and once for dual threat Pete Harrold.

Same lines as last game except Merkley is in for Foote on that line with Boqvist and Maltsev, and Bahl is in for Tenny paired with Smith

I love how Smith in one season became our top defender. He's so calm, good and smart.

He really has been better than expected this year. We all knew he was going to be good, but hes really exceeding expectations. The thing that scares me is that there were apparently people inside the Devils org who were starting to doubt Smith prior to this season, according to Friedman.

Why did it take so long to get Bratt on the powerplay? Him with Hughes and Smith makes us look like a real team not coached by an idiot.
