I would be ok with us paying that price. And I would be ok with say, 9.5. - PT21
Pietrangelo got 8.8 and is a much better 2 way player, career +90. No way Jones, -20, gets 9.5 in a flat market. Not even close. |

Have a feeling he'll end up in Colorado. - Tomahawk
Makar is a rightie. Byram is already showing signs. They need to resign a ton of guys next year including Makar. In 2 years time, Mackinnon will get 4 mil more.
I would be surprised. |

What's your guess then?

Will take a guess at the ask based on an assumption the player would be willing to extend in Philly rather than testing UFA in 2022: Konecny, one of Sanheim/Myers, unsecured 1st round pick in 2022. - bmeltzer
I'd pull the trigger on that just on principle. I'd be curious to know what Jones' contract would look like. |

Krug got 6.5. Jones doesn’t get more than 7 max with shorter term hopefully.
I’d rather pursue Hamilton. |

Jones gets a lot of leverage as an impending UFA and he 100% wore Avs underoos as a kid.
Avs window is open now, and they need somebody to take up EJ's minutes since the guy can't stay healthy. Whether it's Byram straight up for Jones, or some package of a D + C for Jones, they have the pieces to make a better stab at it than the Flyers do. |

+/- is not a great way to evaluate a player. It is more of a team statistic imo. If you play with a good d partner, have a solid team structure and a stud goaltender your +/- is going to be very good. If you are a stud dman, on a poor team then not so much. |

I’m hearing everywhere that the Flyers are looking to make a splash this offseason for a player of impact. As crazy as to many sound, I’m hoping this player isn’t on defense. Provorov is a horse for us in terms of logging minutes. We got York coming. Myers. Sanheim. Why push these guys back? Just get a compliment to Provorov on the top pair at the right price.
My vote is to go all in on Jack Eichel no matter the cost. My only untouchables to this point is Ivan Provorov and Carter Hart. It would be ideal to not include Couturier in the deal so we have our shutdown stud. Anyone else can go.
-SuperSchennBros
I couldn't disagree more, your willing to go into next year relying on or hoping Myers, Sanheim are better and York makes the team?? Fletcher needs to do a lot more than make a splash, he needs to significantly turn this roster over, starting with the veteran leadership. |

The Flyers, IMO, need more than just a complementary piece to Provorov, ala Niskanen. York is completely an unknown quantity as a pro, is rather likely to have some growing pains (as most young defensemen do) at the NHL level. Sanheim and Myers both have significant issues with inconsistency.
As for Eichel, if the Flyers are going to expend major resources on an outside acquisition, I'd rather it be for the top of the blueline. - bmeltzer

would you make that trade Bill?? I think if it is Myers I do it. I would hate to lose TK but I think replacing him will be a lot easier than finding that top D. - wcorvette
Losing TK would hurt, but I would have no problem trading Sanheim or Myers, or even York since as I stated in the past, I trade potential for actual any day of the week. |

Very true, Jones is not getting more than $7M/season in this new cap era.

I will bet you he gets min 8.5. I suspect he will easily clear 9.

We know how much THAT is worth!
More to the point, no doubt Avs have the assets. But the cap space?
A lot will depend I think on how they fare this year. If they win it all, I kinda doubt it. |

Doughty, Suter and Vlasic have been putting up minuses for years... and they're some of the better stoppers in the league.
OEL is like a career -1000000.

Underoos are the most important.
They could offload EJ to a team like the Flyers pretty easily. |

Underoos are like the home team discount. Conspicuous because you so rarely see either.
Don't forget his dad is here now btw. Which will be just as important, I am sure (sarc emoji).

Columbus isn't trading Seth Jones in division.
Only way he comes here is via 3-way trade or UFA. |

Doughty surprises me a bit, as he's played on a lot of good teams. The others you mention are prime examples. |

would I let it stop me? No, but I would prefer to add a sweetener to hold onto Sanheim over Myers. |

I agree that out of the two of them, I would rather have Sanheim.
