on april 14, matej pekar (6'1" 185 lbs., zero pro fights) dropped the gloves with ahl face-puncher brett gallant (6' 0" 190 lbs, 107 ahl fights)...the results of the bout was immediately obvious as pekar got smoked, however...

My first thought was "That's a ridiculous question, of course it's bad coach" ... but thinking about it, he wasn't qualified to be an actual NHL head coach. I think he knew that and took money from the Pegula's, even during a historically bad losing streak. I think the respectful thing he should have done at that point was resign. He didn't do that - he took their money for almost 2 seasons - so therefore : bad person.
I think we need to stop trying to think of players for a specific position, such as 2RW, or 3C, etc.
I think of it like Mike does: The 2 kid lines are the 2 middle six lines.
Has Eichel ever had quality middle six support during his Sabres career?
If you want to upgrade positions, I get it, but you're basically turning $1M players into triple that or more.

and like you said, the echl line up top carrying the load...which they should as you're paying skinner $9m, jack 10 and reinhart probably in the 7-8 range

if i remember correctly, after irwin/tage, i think pham said the risks of getting seriously hurt in an on-ice fight is lower than most think and he definitely said that the team should use the pugilist knowledge of rivet and peters to teach the kids how to handle themselves if they decide to drop the gloves

I think facepunchers can hone their craft at the nhl level but, I think fighting and fighters are born with the gene.
Guy's can play out of their comfort zone, but you really need to have a mean streak in my opinion.
Tage ( yes fluff36 it was great that he fought and his teammates love him now) wasn't angry.
He followed the code.
We need at least 1 guy that can flip out and pound someone if needed.

Well, you would be changing they way teams run their organizations.
Players are generally given contract that match their capabilities to positions and "ranking" (generally not universally). So 1C is paid more than 2C who enjoys favorable pay vs 3C.
Equally productive RW compared to LW generally get higher pay due to supply and demand.
Players also rise and fall on that ranking system according to their play/production..up and down.
I don't think anyone is saying day 1 he should be the 2C, bang, done.
But using projections to target a specific role is reasonable, then evaluating specific play against specific expectations. I.e. a 2LW should be expected to produce ______ (define the metric), such as at a 0.65 PPG.
Maybe I misinterpreted your point, if so..clue me in.
The problem you run into is when injuries inevitably hit these lines are going to be jumbled
I like the idea of the ATM line as the third line or one of the middle six lines
I personally would rather see Cozens on the top RW to start and acquire another Winger and start Reinhart at center
Skinner/Eichel/Cozens
LW target or Ruostolainen /Reinhart/RW target or Bjork
ATM
Olofsson/Whoever/Who cares
I think Reinhart would work with Bjork/Ruostolainen and Cozens would give Eichel a big, fast, skilled power forward on his line - sbroads24
don't you think the strength of those two lines lies with their speed?...and wouldn't moving cozens out and placing reinhart between those two take away from that strength?

Lysell is going to make teams look silly who pass on him if he gets out of the top five of this draft. With the NHL trending towards favoring forwards who play at high pace: Lysell is the cream-of-the-crop when it comes to generating offence off the rush and being able to play at a high-octane pace.
