By empirical you mean analytics? Which relies heavily on subjective human assessment? - Michael Pachla
The definition of empirical. Observation and human-driven data.
(frank), last night is classic Ristolainen. He'd rather punch Lazar in the face than swat a puck out of the crease.
He'd rather whip a puck around the boards aimlessly than transition it to a forward.
He'd rather cross check a guy in his own crease on a (frank)ing power play.
That is Rasmus Ristolainen. The guy who cares more about being physical than being a good defender.
I need zero analytics to come to that conclusion.

If this were true I think he would have been moved by now. It still pains me that we could have added to him to get Ehlers. - Slump Buster
The fact that RIsto could have gotten you Ehlers with a swap of mid picks shows he has value.
I would expect Risto to go to the Peg |

I told you it wouldn't deter the Bruins from cheap shoting the Sabres. It didn't. You are wrong. *again
Sure, his teammates appreciated the fact that he tried.
The bruins do not respect the biggest guy on the Sabres getting his ass handed to him. - Boss34
Ok Boss, never said it would change what the Bruins thought. All that matters is what is said in the Sabres locker room. Maybe if you got your face out of Girgelson's jock strap you would have noticed that, when you and Girgs get done with your Sausage fest maybe you might be able to see that. |

The worst thing you can do with expansion is twist yourself into knots to protect guys like the Wild and Panthers did.
If a moderate sweetener doesn't get it done, you simply let them pick from Asplund, Miller, Girgensons and Risto - jcragcrumple
This is a sound approach |

You mean I shouldn't pay a premium to keep replacement level bros? Interesting.

Risto didn't kick the puck into his own net. That would be Toki. His job is to take a man and let the goalie make the save.
As for the penalty? Bad Viking. |

Risto’s job is to not make the Lazar line look like the Bergeron line. |

For the record, I love the intensity and physical play Risto brings. I wish more players had those tools. I also wish Ristolainen could play the position for 5.4 million dollars.

Perhaps Buffalo should put the required five skaters on the ice instead of Risto going it alone. |

For the record, I get his shortcomings and have no problem moving on from him. But way too many people spend way too much time watching his every move waiting for any little misstep so that they could be the first to point something out. It's really ridiculous |

I typically hang back on the annual Risto bashing. I know I'm leading it today. And I know he's far from the only problem on this team. I, and others, are consistently stating that a player is not good because of truculence (truckulance). That's the basis of this conversation.
I'm sure I'm being trolled, but if I can lay all the information out about the highest paid, lowest effective player on the entire team, then I've done my job, gave myself a gold star, and got myself a (frank)ing cookie. |

So what team might be a interesting partner to try and pluck a player from before the Expansion Draft. I think Arizona and maybe even Columbus. |

I made my case on Jeff earlier. While being highly paid and ineffective on the scoring sheet, he does not damage you like Risto.

Think people are forgetting how Myers played his rookie year .
