Dion Phaneuf and Rasmus Ristolainen: good fantasy defensemen, bad on ice defensemen. Get over it. - TheSabresTaco
Get over yourself. You've turned into a more arrogant southern version of flaccoville.

What do you think the return is? A second? I'd be fine with that. - Slump Buster
I'd ask for someone like Iafallo.
I think that's fair.
(just my opinion, not knowing what other GMs think of him) |

I mean there are several analytical measures. The two that are most referenced on here though are.
CF%: analyzes the amount of chances the player is on the ice for and against.
xG % Analyzes the amount of expected goals that the player is on the ice for and against.
Risto scores very low in both (meaning more chances and expected goals against than for) |

Agreed, but it couldn't be him because they just signed him. That would look really bad and I don't ever recall that being done in any sport.

Itâs literally everything
Heâs bad at transition offense, heâs bad at letting teams enter the zone. Heâs bad at preventing scoring chances, shots, goals.
He also doesnât generate or move the needle in shots, chances and goals for
Heâs bad |

Risto last 4 seasons 131 points

Right, I know, was just thinking a player similar. Should've been more specific. High middle six player. Idk. |

The fantasy league scores points for hits and blocked shots.
A player that has a high number of blocked shots and hits must also spend a lot of time in their own zone as both of those attributes require not having puck possession, as if one had the puck they would not be hitting nor blocking shots.
Therefore, Risto is a good fantasy league player because of the fact he is getting Taco points for those respective categories. This does not exactly correlate with him being a good d-man however because we get out chanced and our scored when he is on the ice.

Wouldnât u expect those numbers to be low for a guy whoâs:
1- on a terrible team
2- playing the most minutes
3- against the toughest competition |

To follow up on this, last night one of the stats guys on twitter noted that there were 24 shots against with Risto on the ice and only a handful for (I forget the exact number). He had 6 blocked shots which sound impressive in a vacuum but it's a terrible number in context. |

I don't think it is any coincidence that Granato comes in and lets the kids play as much or (now) more than he does and the team no longer looks like it is underwater. There needs to be a divorce here, for us and for him. |

I mean yeah that's part of the problem. The other part is, even with lesser competition, as shown last night, he's still bad. If you look at his base analytics from 2017-2018, he had the best season of his career because he was actually utilized at least somewhat properly. Extremely heavy offensive deployment. |

Those are also very recent developments, correct?
And u coincidentally (or not) avoided the question....
Wouldnât those numbers be low for just about any defenseman who plays top pairing minutes against the toughest competition when on terrible teams for the overwhelming majority of his career??? |
