It’s bizarre that I am questioning the play of Matthews, but here goes:

Far too often, if Matthews gets a rush on net and ends up with the puck behind the net, he just throws it blindly in front.

I’d like to see him do something a little more purposeful.

Matthews and Marner are both guilty at times of underestimating the capabilities of their immediate opponent. Just because you can sometimes make a pass, doesn't mean you always should. Some pressure shouldn't mean you immediately move the puck either. I mean, adding Galchenyuk to the line, in theory - means you're finding another shooter, but he has to start finding those spots to get shots from so that he's an effective option.

Honestly think Gally is there more to bang pop pucks loose as opposed to shoot. Like to see him do so more but he seems to be playing more of the Hyman role
