999 out of 1000 new infections are linked to indoor transmission.
based on these findings, one could argue that in outdoor spaces (so good air flow), if not sitting/standing still, masks would not be needed (distancing would be sufficient). - MaximusAurelius
so places where people are working for long periods around others...and maybe schools where teachers and kids are in the same rooms for hours.

you might have missed that i am working in this field.
i can tell you that people in india (MDs, scientists) very familiar with TB, pneumonia and other infectious diseases are getting very very worried about Covid in India right now. - MaximusAurelius
When this whole thing went down in India, they didn't give two poops about it cuz they knew the only ones who wouldn't be able to cope are the extreme poor. They had people cycling, walking, carrying their parent or child, for a 1000km or more to get to their native villages during the first shutdown there.
Most people in India don't care if it wipes out the poor, even if the medical establishment makes the right noises that they do.
BTW, my comment about the wall was directed at someone else who comments like the common people are just peons for him and his crew to lord over. |

of course.
like in most other infectious diseases..
the whole myth that 'kids would not transmit' is one of the dumbest assumptions that had been used by politicians and 'scientists' around.

it took the Ontario government a long time to close schools.. Lousy Lecce thinking that schools were safe was just dumb - PatC80
the wife and I dont have kids, but have been listening to family members who do...and we were told schools are fine, kids are safe, doesnt affect them..blah blah
doesnt make sense to us...why rooms of kids and teachers are magically fine

smoke and mirrors trying to get people to look away from the real problem spots - senstroll
schools were one of the biggest spreaders.. Most school buildings in Ontario are old and do not have proper ventilation. Lecce thinking, or rather telling people schools are safe was selfish and ignorant on his part. |

So don't shoot the messenger here, but the thinking at the time was that if people could get everything they needed in one trip, it would lower time spent out of house and interactions between people.
Not my thinking.

Anyone with a bit of money can buy this triple combo from any pharmacist without a prescription in India... another reason why most people aren't really bothered about it out there.
The extreme poor can't afford that or any of the other drugs (malaria drugs, quinine, etc... that have proven effective)

You are quite out of your league here.
You make a point how the rich don't care about the poor.
My point is about how developments on covid in other parts of the world will have a direct impact on Canadian situation. Canada can get up to 70+% of vaccination coverage - that won't do a lot of good mid term (looking at restrictions) if other countries don't get good coverage rates

My point is that relying on vaccines that aren't arriving in any kind of timely manner might be foolish, when there's a therapy available that is yielding good results in keeping people alive and reducing any of the effects of the virus. |

I think he contradicted himself by letting them stay open when if you're not golfing you can't even visit those friends.
Total shut down was not the way, single golfers should be allowed people living under the same roof also should be allowed. |
