My point is that relying on vaccines that aren't arriving in any kind of timely manner might be foolish, when there's a therapy available that is yielding good results in keeping people alive and reducing any of the effects of the virus. - MisterBrown
Invermectine doesn't work.
There was a recent study published on this.
Right now, we do not have a proper treatment developed - in particular since covid manifests quite differently in different people.
So far, we know that being a smoker reduces the risk of hospitalization with covid (obviously this was not widely reported)
In addition, people on specific medications (like people with cystic fibrosis) apparently run less risk of hospitalization as well.
For now however, I'd rather take a vaccine that protects 100% against severe disease and death over taking the risk of ending up in an ICU and then supposedly be solved by a wonder treatment at value of 3dollars..

Tournaments haven't been allowed since two summers ago so I don't golf anymore which means I could care less.
Also Ford is really pissing me off but I'm not sure it's enough to make me vote Liberal.

Apparently (according to Damien Cox on Twitter) the City of Toronto is going to allow golf.
And still on the Twitter roomer mill, the Science Table is telling the provincial government to get their poop together and quit being such idiots. |

Also, it's ridiculous that you can't go to an outdoor driving range, they are well over six feet apart, you go by yourself and it's exercise. |

The link i posted is from January of this year. India, amongst others, is using the treatment to save lives.
"Last month, several medical experts testified before the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee in favor of authorizing ivermectin for early treatment of the novel coronavirus. Among them, Dr. Pierre Kory, founding member of Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), explained that ivermectin, a Nobel Prize–winning anti-parasitic agent, “basically obliterates transmission of this virus,” with “miraculous effectiveness.”
Ivermectin has been the subject of dozens of studies and anecdotal success stories since it was found to reduce COVID-19 in a laboratory last June.
“I’ve been treating COVID pretty much every single day since the onset,” Kory said. “When I say ‘miracle’ I do not use that term lightly…that is a scientific recommendation based on mountains of data that has emerged in the last three months.”
FLCCC has developed a treatment regimen incorporating ivermectin, which the group claims has led to up to 83% lower-than-average COVID-19 death rates in hospitals that have applied it." |

the wife and I dont have kids, but have been listening to family members who do...and we were told schools are fine, kids are safe, doesnt affect them..blah blah
doesnt make sense to us...why rooms of kids and teachers are magically fine - senstroll
The school thing is poorly presented and misunderstood.
I looked deeper into these numbers on the weekend during a PM discussion with cc.
What we are usually shown in a # of Outbreaks and schools are way out in front.
Until you realize that the number of outbreaks where the case count is 1 is almost the same as the number of outbreaks for every other case count combined.
further, the burden of infection in the schools was about half as high as the gen-pop.
On a smaller scale, my wife has not heard of one confirmed time when a spread happened in the school at her board. There was one kid who passed it to another kid in a different class, but the kids had a sleepover the weekend before. There have been a couple cases of multiple infections... but they have all been traced to a 3rd party source.
This strongly suggests that not much spreading is occurring in the school. Kids can get it, and they can spread it but they are very poor spreaders. This is perfectly in line with what we see with vaccinated people.
Be careful with vague terms like "outbreaks". |

I was initially curious as to why it was a "may" miss the game as opposed to "will" miss the game. What type of contrition did Willy show or offer up that Kap didn't? I understood with Kapanen it was a recurring thing, which may have made it worse, but I - obviously - have no idea what's going on behind closed doors. |

I agree with everything above.
Two quick adds:
- There was strong urging from multiple sources, including the Hospital for Sick Children, to keep the schools open if possible. The risk to mental health was much higher for kids.
- Teachers should have been considered frontline workers, and allowed to go in the first wave of inoculations. |
