I was initially curious as to why it was a "may" miss the game as opposed to "will" miss the game. What type of contrition did Willy show or offer up that Kap didn't? I understood with Kapanen it was a recurring thing, which may have made it worse, but I - obviously - have no idea what's going on behind closed doors. - Monkeypunk
He sincerely apologized for doing it with Hyman and Mikheyev out, when Ridditch is in net, and the Leafs need the two points, and when Nylander has looked the most dangerous of any Leaf the past few days.
Keefe had no choice but to accept that apology. |

That lineup is so weak, I wouldn't be surprised if a Leaf or two didn't bother showing up on time for the team meeting. |

The school thing is poorly presented and misunderstood.
I looked deeper into these numbers on the weekend during a PM discussion with cc.
What we are usually shown in a # of Outbreaks and schools are way out in front.
Until you realize that the number of outbreaks where the case count is 1 is almost the same as the number of outbreaks for every other case count combined.
further, the burden of infection in the schools was about half as high as the gen-pop.
On a smaller scale, my wife has not heard of one confirmed time when a spread happened in the school at her board. There was one kid who passed it to another kid in a different class, but the kids had a sleepover the weekend before. There have been a couple cases of multiple infections... but they have all been traced to a 3rd party source.
This strongly suggests that not much spreading is occurring in the school. Kids can get it, and they can spread it but they are very poor spreaders. This is perfectly in line with what we see with vaccinated people.
Be careful with vague terms like "outbreaks". - Aetherial
Interesting - I"m not sure I still don't think the provincial government was leaving schools open when they shouldn't have but I guess I'm not shocked to hear there wasn't alot of spread happening AT school.
With all the protocols and supervision to make sure the protocols are followed at school (teachers watching over kids)it kind of makes sense.
Now what I would assume is kind of the situation you described where it's kid to kid spread outside school. I say this because every time I walk my dog I see gaggles of kids of all ages all hanging out together playing with no masks, in close contact etc. It's like "oh school is over off with the mask and eff the rules" and these kids generally have no parents with them at all.
The best was hearing and seeing a couple big groups of teens wandering down my street at 1230am on a Tuesday blasting music, screaming about how drunk they are while holding each other up etc. And the party they left from further down the street spilling out onto the street before someone opened their window 1950's style and told them to shut the (frank) up and that the cops had been called. They all scrambled inside pretty quickly after hearing that. lol

You know it's funny, you'd think there would be no excuses, especially with Covid... but lo and behold we live in one of the dozen cities in the world where daytime traffic is exactly as bad as it was before the pandemic |

I agree with everything above.
Two quick adds:
- There was strong urging from multiple sources, including the Hospital for Sick Children, to keep the schools open if possible. The risk to mental health was much higher for kids.
- Teachers should have been considered frontline workers, and allowed to go in the first wave of inoculations. - Atomic Wedgie

I’d say among the first wave. I think there were those more exposed who were getting very sick but I certainly agree |

I love how English players are held accountable, but the French ones get to "pass de excuses."
