I am enjoying the circling back to Andersen because he was completely dead to people. They wanted Campbell as a 1a with a 1b for the remainder of this season and next. We are legit seeing what that looks like right now. - Aaron_85

not a great thought..but now im hoping Andersen can come back and have a bit of a resurgence... steal the net back, go on a run
The team is better Def this time...and maybe they can avoid getting goalie'd in rd 1

Well maybe if they didn't start thinking Campbell was more than a backup goaltender being a on hot streak, they'd be less hard on him.
But no, they had to blow everything out of proportion and then be mad when things go back to normal. - Scabeh
He has a career .917 save percentage. It is quite possible he is more than a backup.
In reality we should be thinking of him somewhere in between what Leaf fans were thinking of him and the way you just described him.

Campbell has had a rough few games, but he is still the only goaltender that has been able to put together a consistent stretch of solid goaltending for this team in 2 years.
Do I think that makes him the answer? No. But I think it makes him part of it.
My feelings would be an Andersen/Campbell competition with the net truly up for grabs to whoever earns it going forward is the best option. 🤷🏻♂️ - joel878
I like campbell and I think he still comes back and plays solid for us.
No reason to not think he can become a Khudobin for the Leafs. |

I know you hate Andersen but you can't possibly be suggesting a Campbell / Rittich combo > a Campbell / Andersen combo? - Cush29
Nope, I'm not. Just skip down a few comments.
I don't hate Andersen, I never have. I hate how he's played the last two years and I want him to be better, and I think forcing him to earn the net he's always been handed has the best chance of resulting in him returning to form. |

All three of these goalies have been good at one time or another. It seems likely that one of them will be playing well by playoff time, right? Right? |

More than a backup can sustain his play over a long period of time. Jury out (hmm) one way or another |

I see many legit staters go through some rough games.
Again Leaf fans are much too hard on the players. |

Lol. No we're not, we're seeing what a 2a with a 2b combo looks like. As of now, Campbell has the potential to be a 1b. Rittich is a 2b to Hutchinsons 3a.

He was drafted 10 years ago and his career is all of about 74 games. He's a back up.

I'm fairly sure in the past 2 years there have been stretches of good Freddy combined with stretches of Bad Freddy.
Campbell has had one run of good and now is in a run of bad play as a pseudo starter.
Campbell has been all you want from a backup goalie and a bag of chips.
Can Campbell be a legit #1 starter? I personally have concerns & doubts based on what we are seeing now with his game and his mental toughness but I would like to see him in a 1A/1B role for sure to see what he really is. Maybe be battles his way to the bonafide #1 starter role or maybe he is just a really, really good back up goalie.
I would feel 'ok, just ok' with a Campbell / Andersen 1A/1B combo going into the playoffs. I'm not interested in seeing Big Save Dave on the bench or between the pipes come playoffs - he scares me & of the 3 goalies I think he may be the weakest.

All this need Freddie back stuff. Yeah, I mean sure. But if he's the same poop sandwich when he comes back that he has been the last two years... What does it matter?
Both Rittich and Campbell, even when struggling... Have still posted better numbers than Andersen. Imagine that. 🤷🏻♂️ - joel878
Actually no, campbells stats the past 5 games have been worse than anything we've seen from freddy in a 5 game stretch, including his last 5 games.
Campbell avg past 5 games: .807
Andersens avg past 5 games: .853
Both horrible but your hate and facts dont line up.
Fortunately campbell had that stretch where he played the best of his entire career to help average out his season #'s.
But if freddy comes back and plays like he had while he was injured, yes we're in trouble
I dont care who the goalie is, i just want success and possibly cap space lol |

Good to know and I like the thought of making Freddy battle and earn his starts.
I won't lie in the past you have drawn the ire of the secret society of Freddy Wives with your comments and you have made the list.
That being said the list is in erasable marker so we have lightly erased your name from said list but the imprint is still there so we can just quickly retrace it if deemed necessary.

You know who had even better stats as a backup who was also acquired from LA?
That's right.
Nelson Mandela. |

I don't think the ducks think they are that far away. If they did they would have sold more on their players at the deadline. - Aaron_85
Murray is a moron ...and unless we can roll out 21 Jamie Drysdale’s who is so Fck’n good... thank you Sens & Detroit for being colossally stupid .... who I think everyone can agree has played his last game as a Erie Otter every night,
we are far away.... Gibby should absolutely be dealt this off-season ... we can roll with Dostal & Stolly ... |

Your attitude is piss poor if you don't believe a guy like that can be something more. |

I agree that Murray is a moron. Well I'll be nice until I see what he does this off season.
He can move Gibson and sign Andersen in the off season. He's a quality enough goalie for a team. I don't think the leafs want him back unless it's for cheaper than 5 million a year.
