Thoughts on what?

People are forgetting that all of us in Healthcare had FTE responsibilities before covid hit. Those responsibilities don't get put on the back burner, covid just got added to our plates. It's virtually the same in every department. The ICU has been no exception. Nothing needs to be investigated, it's the opposite, Healthcare workers need to be rewarded and applauded if you ask me. I could not imagine being a respiratory therapist, icu nurse/doctor, biomedical engineer, emergency doctor during these times.

Was I insinuating that healthcare workers shouldn’t be applauded? I’m shocked how little capacity we have to deal with this.

Also, if people want to wait for one of the more effective vaccinations that’s their right. And I thinks it’s pretty weak to criticize them. The Astra just doesn’t appear to be very effective

What are you referring to when saying it should be investigated? Hospitals are built to utilize every bed/room, and they aren't built with pandemics in mind. It's unprecedented times. You have to remember, nothing shuts down for pandemics (apart from elective surgeries which were temporarily paused, then resumed at a higher rate to "catch up"). We all have our full time jobs to do, then have covid added on top, and it's the same across all areas of Healthcare, the supply chain, the departments. It's trying times man.

Yup. One number that impressed me was that in the last 24 hours Fraser Health has vaccinated 19,070 people, 76,786 people were vaccinated province wide in the last 24 hours.

The vaccine rollout in BC is still atrocious. I'm glad they are starting to ramp up, but man has it been bad.

I tested it out today. Tried 15 pharmacies and they are all out of the Astra.

I did register. Nothing happened. I then tried all of the individual pharmacies in my area and they are out

they will eventually call you, but its best to check the online booking at businesses that are doing the vaccinations and seeing if you can take a slot.

I honestly can't answer that. I have no clue. Are you worried about taking the AZ and would rather take moderna or Pfizer?

I can’t complain. My wife and I got it almost two months ago now. Both of our parents in NS are vaccinated. It sounds like most of the regulars in here are now vaccinated.

Could it have been better? Of course. But again... publicly funded health care and a boob leading the country. You take the good with the bad.

Short answer...maybe, and it might be “better”....insufficient testing & data to be certain

With the age bracket that I fall in, it will be another month or two before I get dose 1. I work part of the time in a long term care facility as well. Not impressed with how slow it's been, considering the inventory and resources we have.

I wonder how much of that has to do with working for PHSA? I loved working for B.C. Cancer but I always felt that PHSA was healthcare’s version of a “Ma and Pa Shop”.

We were eligible to register on April 10th and did so, received a confirmation number and still waiting to hear back. My wife called for a status update on Monday and she was told to be patient. So we will wait and phone again in another week or so.

You do realize that Canada was bumped down the Pfizer and moderna priority shipment list by the U.S. government. They turned to Astrazeneca to supplement and then Europe started pausing use. So its a supply chain issue outside of Canadian government control.

Ben Birnell
@OD_Birnell
So, AHL transactions has D Guillaume Brisebois loaned to Utica (He had been loaned to Laval earlier this season, so that's interesting.

Also, Blues 2019 draft pick Nikita Alexandrov, a 20-year-old center who played in Finland this season, also assigned to Utica per transactions

-----------
Brisebois probably finished with the team.

Getting a centre in Utica would be good.

everything you said above was true, but also happened a long time ago.

We have not had stock issues, or a shortage of resources to vaccinate more people in a long time. All of the immunization clinics are up and running as well (here on the island anyway).

Inventory cant be used as an excuse any more, and hasn't been a valid excuse for a very long time.

I was chatting with buddy today, his wife is a nurse in Winnipeg at health science centre.

Said that she can't believe how fast people go from being a little sick with covid to coding and almost dying. Happens once or twice a day I guess.

Sounds like what Carson was talking about yesterday.

Nils Höglander’s quality of competition is much more difficult than any of the top scoring rookies in the NHL.

All the while, he is still third in 5-on-5 rookie scoring and showing outstandingly well in the defensive zone.
