they should plan to go, then not go. i would be thrilled to see the USA & Canada not send any athletes. China is a criminally run land for a lot of reasons. first and foremost is the genocide / internment camps. but then throw in the fact that they own Covid, silenced those who tried to help advise other countries about it and then China didnt share anything. add in their lack of respect for intellectual property, copyright and currency manipulation, the only thing good coming out of china is egg rolls.

I'll stick with living in Canada, even though the Premier of Ontario has the IQ of a 9-year-old.

All the sports leagues are knee deep in Chinese money. Granted they aren't totally pandering for Chinese money like the NBA but leave no doubt the NHL is swayed. If the US and Canada governments don't boycott they certainly won't.

If humanitarian reasons are being put forward to boycot the China Olympics - we should all boycot the NHL since linked to USA. US regime has been responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths around the world every year, and main actor in driving millions of people into situations of conflict, war, bad health and economic turmoil.

Fed govt has agreements to procure 404M doses of vaccine - that is by far more than enough to vaccinate everyone in Canada many times over.

No - our problem is... not producing local vaccines.

When you are at the mercy of external forces, there's not a lot that can be done. We have contracts, but in many cases, factors like spoiled batches cause interruptions.

After a little scouting, it seems you are largely right. I was misinformed.

I read that though the Pfizer plan is near the Canadian border in Michigan, you will get Pfizer shipments from Belgium, which is sad (though understandable given the current political optics if the US exported to Canada).

But having said that, a lot of the US vaccines were obtained from Europe. Israel produces no vaccines and yet is a leader in vaccinations. Much of Britain's vaccine supply comes from India.I wonder if your government was as entrepreneurial as some others.
