Nielsen also out for the rest of the season. Bertuzzi not coming back, Fabbri out, things are getting thin

Call the NHL offices if you have an issue with Parros.

Agreed. I don't watch enough of other teams to say much else, but there's been alot of dirty hits on Habs players this year that have been ignored or some pitiful fine given like McPrivileged going with his elbow on Kotkaniemi. I can only imagine it's just as bad across the league. That's what happens when you have someone who got punched in the head for a living in an executive position; there's not much left between the ears.

Oh yeah, that was a nasty elbow. The whole thing is an absolute joke. Even Wilson’s suspension, they changed it to “boarding” to get him suspended, when it wasn’t a boarding hit. It’s all PR and garbage. It will take someone’s career ending and a lawsuit to get any changes over there.

I have been saying this for years. A player will die on the ice its only a matter of when at this point. Players see that they can get away with these attacks on players and will continue to do it until someone dies or is a vegetable and be crippled for life. Its coming

I remember being in the tunnels at the Joe, and a young kid was back there. He paraplegic, and had been a former Isles player. These guys, most of them, their bodies fall apart just from how hard the sport is on knees, backs, necks etc. the brain damage and pain pill addiction is every bit as bad. The helmets are horrible. They amplify contact and vibrate some pretty sensitive areas (if you’ve worn one you know, get hit and it feels like a baseball bat). These guys can skate 30mph and shoot a puck 100mph. Running someone into the boards or attacking the head is unreal. They don’t really care unless the right people complain

It just makes zero sense, especially this year. The only solution would be to make the department something outside of the NHL (like one of the arbitrator’s) but that would complicate everything to death. Just unreal

It all starts at the top boys - and migrates all the way down to the refs & linesmen who turn blind eyes to fouls. I've maintained for years that Bettman's the one that approved Parros as head of the DOPS, and as long as players like Tom Wilson continue to play in the league the NHL is enabling the "cheap shots" that take place.
The lack of proper and correct enforcement, no consistency or standardized penalties.
Enforcement is random - based on the status of the team & player who did the hit, and the team/player who was the victim.
That is - star-level players get more leeway when they commit fouls, and cause more fouls because of their status.

I agree that it’s colluded, for sure. I think Bettman is actually in very poor health. Watch last year’s lottery ball, and any of the recent drafts. His hands are shaking uncontrollably and some facial ticks. I don’t think he’s calling the shots as much, neurological illness possible.

Can ditch the Toronto part. Hyman got taken out intentionally and a lousy 2 games?!

Between game management reffing and DOPS inconsistent joke of enforcement at what point do we start looking at Bettman and his make this entertainment and not a sport agenda here?!

My point was that the knee was far less obvious or egregious than head shots that have gone unpunished. To see the extension change the tape was massively slowed down and zoomed. Zero consistency compared to obvious head shots/elbows etc

many moons ago I was looking for Frenchie trolling material and came across that .. I think it's a real product but that really doesn't really matter.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't "calling the shots" much (in regards to the day-to-day mgmt of the product on the ice) before his Parkinson's started acting up (or whatever).

I’m not sure what all he would weigh in on. In the court cases they found a lot of back and forth emails regarding individual disciplinary cases. An example, there was a dirty hit (player not named) and Bettman chimed in that it would need to be looked at. That may have been when Shanny was at the wheel of the department.

It was that same chain where Bettman tried to argue that concussions may just be a product of a type of player more than a type of injury. Bizarre stuff if you have a chance to read over any of it. More than likely Daly (who was in on all those emails) is more a point contact now

I have used this analogy elsewhere on this site (I think most recently in reply to one of Paul's blogs) but the NHL hiring Parros to lead the DoPS (and previously Shanahan) reminds me of when the UN appointed to its Human Rights Commission countries like Cuba, Syria, and China.

So Larkin, Bertuzzi, Ryan, Fabbri, Nielsen all out. Still doing this 7 D system, I think tonight might get ugly. It will probably be another lines blender night, hoping to see a lot of minutes for Vrana, Svechnikov, Zadina and Rasmussen.

I think they should shut down Larkin for the season, give Veleno a few games when he clears. There's nothing worth playing for with 8 games left, Let Larkin heal and take a much needed break. Seems like for the moment Bernier and Greiss have flip flopped also, Greiss has looked a lot better in the last few games.

We'll see what tonight brings, LGW!

What the hell am I watching right now? 3 goals in the first with so many guys out of the lineup against a team like Dallas is nuts. Great first, enjoyable game.
