It's not hindsight when I was posting about keeping toffoli and letting virtanen walk as soon as our playoffs in the bubble ended.

I'm just more salty than ever now cause I believe I was truly right lol

Literally everybody knew TT is better than JV.

Would that have changed the outcome of the Canucks here. No one knows.

Oh 100%. I won't say every team has a bad contract or two. Every team does. We just have like 8

9 if you include Lu's recapture.

True, but can't fault the idiot at the helm for that one

Olli Juolevi is "set to roster"

MD is an emergency loan up to the Canucks.

Could we see him tonight?

Not MD. That would be cruel to the kid.

Meh, the flat cap or "covid" cap didn't hurt one team anymore than it did the rest of the league. It just highlighted and brought to light just how bad those signings you mentioned above were.
- Codes1087

That's not a comparable analysis. Objectively the point is those contracts pre-flat cap were moveable at a price. In the new reality nothing left but LTIR retirement.

No, but I don't mind throwing some blame at the previous idiot every once in a while. For old time's sake.

I'd argue hard that none of those contracts were movable, regardless of flat cap or covid. Nobody wants our high priced underperforming contracts, not unless we mortgage our future and attach 1st round picks as sweetener like other teams have done.

To be fair, that recapture penalty is the honestly the dumbest thing. Bettman is just pissed that a GM circumvented the CBA so well. Hossa and sudden allergies. Mike Richards and coke. Luongo retires because of injury and the cba rulebook is suddenly the law. I dunno, sort of seems silly to me. Let's wait and see what they do with webers contract when he retires early.

No you can't but you can still hold him accountable for not being prepared for it.

He's the most present minded GM we have ever had. He doesn't see the future beyond what he is planning for his next meal

When I said price it included buyouts and salary retention. Moving them in deals with expendables like Gaudette would not cost 1sts and/or mortgage future.

Nevertheless those options are not the new reality. Overpay contracts turned from problematic to immovable. Whoever steers the ship only has LTIR as solution.

Yes. It's not like he stopped the cap being circumvented, he just changed how it got done. I'll be curious to see if the Lightning and the Leafs get dinged for how they are manipulating it this year. I loved Pronger working for the NHL while on LTIR. How the fuck is that even possible?

The TT loss hurt but they got Schmidt as a result. Plus they were stuck with that Ferland status limbo that cost them Tanev. But Hamonic has started to fill in there after rough start.

The objective truth is that Covid/flat cap turned Beagle, Roussel, Sutter, and LE contracts from over pays to unmoveable anchors. Next season LTIR might be way out for the 3 left as $ for buyouts wasn't authorized.

- NuckUp

What a load of crap!! COVID has nothing to do with those horrendous contracts.

lol typical lack of understanding but your level needs simplicity.

Overpay= Horrendous

Covid/flat cap = immovable

Solution = LTIR

Flat cap, covid cap, whatever it may be, it's all dumb. No team neither benefitted or was hurt more by the implications.

Vaxxers will be second guessing taking the poison, ivermectin the miracle drug just got approved for covid 2$ a dose less dangerous than tylenol and docs have been using it since the beginning of this plandemic.
