My wife's sister just called, her friend died of a brain aneurysm last night. 28 years old. Had a brain tumor removed little over a year ago. - manvanfan
Now, that is sad. |

They've got a lot of high-priced, declining, players at the top-end of their lineup and no one in sight to replace them. The future does not look bright for them!
There was a time when they were in on every high-end free agent or seemingly always in on big trades to land a big fish, those days are gone. You've gotta build through the draft now or you're just not going to be successful. - DraftandDestroy
With Hextall they went so heavy draft and since he was removed they went big into free agency and trading.
Lots of good players in the Philly system but once they graduated a few you could see the next bunch wasn't as great as some talked about.
Going to have to get something for Giroux before he expires. JVR too. I'd trade JVR this off season while his trade value is high. |

I am of the opinion that building through the draft has been the way to go, for several decades.
Look at the 70's Habs, the 80's Islanders, 80's Oilers, Red Wings, Devils, Penguins, Blackhawks etc.
Mostly all the really good cup winning teams, built their teams through the draft. |

Most, if not all, of the older top guys there need to be pushed out the door. I just don't see Dave Scott allowing that. |

100% true...I was just referring to the Flyers, they haven't built a team through the draft since the early 2000's when they picked Carter and Richards in round one of 2003. They then went out and got Daniel Briere, Scott Hartnell, Chris Pronger and went to the finals five years later.
Before that they drafted extremely well in the 70's and 80's which lead to Cups in 74, 75 and finals appearances in 76, 85 and 87. |

Canucks playoff odds back up to 11.5%, gonna be huge swings with every game from now on.
With a win tonight and another Calgary win the odds go up to 18.7%. |

Bored, going through expansion draft simulator on cap friendly.
Teams that have cap space and could really use a leader on the left side of the defence in Nate Schmidt.
New Jersey.
Los Angeles has the right side locked in but left side is lacking. They have lots of young forwards probably too many right now. Madden, Byfield, Turcotte, Vilardi, Dolan, Kupari, Thomas, Fagemo to name a few. I don't know how they will play them all or get to the cap if they try too play them all. 20M in cap space and only need 5 more contracts. With nobody needing a raise.
Ottawa needs to add or extend another D man just to meet requirements. They could also protect another players as well. They have extra picks and could really use a steady D man back there to take the load off of Chabot. |

Would you like to see the CDN division again back next season but in a normal format? |

In a normal format it might prove to be entertaining, though the travel would probably kill the Canucks.
As a Canucks fan, I'd rather go right back to the way things were, Van matches up much better vs. the Pacific div teams as opposed to eastern Canada and Winnipeg. |

Ruby mentioned about Green going to Anaheim to coach the Ducks next season.
EK is mentioning the possibility of another CDN division next season.
Green's family is still in the Anaheim area, I'm not sure why they didn't move with him after 4 years.
If another CDN Div. does happen, means much less time again that Green would be in the California area and away from his family but if Anaheim is offering, I certainly see why the rumours of him going to Anaheim are there. |

I agree. Time zones should dictate divisional alignment, not country borders. |

I understand that some people might think that rehashing our overpaid bottom 6 is a stale topic. However, I feel the reason it still gets discussed is twofold.
1. They're still Canucks and eating up roster spots and cap space.
2. The man responsible for the dilemma is still running the team.
It's kind of like saying that calling EP or Boeser a great pick is a stale topic, or that the coach sucks. They're all still relevant topics on the current state of the Canucks.
BTW, thanks Mak for all your efforts. |

Greens family is not in Anaheim. There will not be a Canadian division next year. Stop quoting Ek |

How long is Demko still out for? I've been working a ton.
I'm more intrigued by the Canucks record without EP. Are we relying on him too much when he's available? |

Can’t get the goddamn Pfizer. No matter how much $ I offer people. I offered my dad $20k for his shot and the jerk said no 🤯. I’ll have to get down to visit fatcoaster if I want to join the gang |

Demko came back and played one game and got injured. Lower body is all we got. Silvos backing up |

All the the elitists like Marwood are bragging about their Pfizer’s while the rest of us are stuck with the blood clotting special. They sent MD down to Utica to finally get some games and Silvos is already in Canada so he doesn’t have to quarantine. It’s a shame because MD would have got some games if he had stayed! Back to backs coming up |
