fleury was still playing well. pitt just decided to go with the younger and cheaper murray. which turned out to be a mistake.

price can't even stay healthy and the fans in seattle couldn't care less about price's name is my guess.

i think you are going to be surprised at how well a team does in seattle.

why would I be surprised?

I agree completely. If by some miracle they did, they're more than welcome to take the worst contract in the league by far. Even worse than Scott Gomez.

Hains: Interesting Timing

Lost amongst the excitement of the Habs’ prized prospect NHL debut yesterday was the news that Patrick Roy is now represented by PBI Sports and may be looking to return to the NHL in a coaching or management role

- Karine Hains

interesting blog Karine, but wouldn't you rather have Roy's intensity behind the bench, and leave the general managing tasks to someone else? (unless you give him the key to the city and let him play both roles, but I highly doubt that would be feasible/very wise in the NHL lol)

I am a HUGE Patrick Roy fan... He was my first jump into the deep end of the loving the Habs pool, and there's been no looking back.

If he was GM, he may make decisions that aren't popular, including on the language barrier around coaching... If nothing else, it would be interesting!

- Darksyde

has he ever talked about that particular subject?

No idea who Madden Jr is but he does have some GM experience unlike the others, but not sure if he speaks French

at first glance you'd think he's a football guy lol but he's currently assistant GM for the Ducks... and he's born in QC, he probably speaks a bit of french lol

I disagree. Roy has NO experience as even an assistant GM in the NHL. MB served in that role for years in Chicago before moving to Montreal.

More importantly, Roy has a temper and a history of making poor decisions that you seem to have forgotten. Did he not once insist from the bench that his goalie son get into a fight? Please get a grip.

All the good young players you mentioned were drafted by MB. He also signed Toffoli and Petry to very good contracts. Your wish that he be fired is based in the frustrations of the moment. Should he be fired he will quickly find another team. Do you really want to compete against him? Let’s hope this does not happen.

so people can't evolve and grow wiser...? you could also get a grip lol... but I don't necessarily disagree with your stance on Bergevin, it seems more than 90% of fans want him out as soon as possible, I'd rather make changes concerning the drafting department

The question is who will be replacing him? I agree if it’s someone with no experience or could disrupt the flow then no, but if it’s someone that has a good track record (and speaks French) I don’t see why not

On May 23, 2013, Roy was named head coach and vice-president of hockey operations of the Colorado Avalanche.[39] TSN's Bob McKenzie reported that Roy will have the final say in all hockey matters. Then-Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman retained his post, but was considered the general manager "in name only." At the time, Roy was the only coach in the NHL who has the title or powers of general manager. Before the season started, his former Avs teammate, Joe Sakic, was hired as executive vice-president of hockey operations. Although the title nominally put him above Roy on the organization chart, Roy and Sakic shared most of the duties normally held by a general manager in the NHL–a practice that continued after Sakic was formally granted the title of general manager in 2014.
