Alright, 4 games in 6 days vs the Oil - 2 home then 2 away. Think we’ll see:

L - W - L - L

Which game will Benning finally fire the coach, or Aquilini finally fire the GM?

For Don, from the Athletic:

What the Canucks should expect from Jonah Gadjovich

Travis Green confirmed postgame that Gadjovich is being recalled. With the club realistically out of the playoff hunt, the dense schedule with 11 games over the next 18 days and the lacklustre state of the bottom-six, one would imagine he’ll get a shot to draw into the lineup at some point.

This is going to be a big test for Gadjovich. The expansion draft is right around the corner and the big left winger is eligible to be taken by Seattle if he’s not protected with the seventh and final protection slot. This is his opportunity to force the issue and build on his breakout season in Utica, where he’s tallied 15 goals in 19 games.

We asked two of the closest Comets observers in the market — Cody Severtson, who’s been manually tracking data and covering games for Comets Harvest, and EliteProspect’s Cam Robinson — for their thoughts on Gadjovich’s season and how his skill set might translate to the NHL.

Severtson: Gadjovich is hard carrying the Comets 5v5 offence; no exaggeration. The Comets have scored 33 goals at 5v5. And Gadjovich has earned points on 33 percent of them. Across all situations, he’s scored 24 percent of the team’s goals. 24! Gadjovich has always had a nose for the net and uses his size appropriately to assert himself around the crease. With watered-down defensive talent in the AHL, Gadjovich has basically scored at will from his home office. There are some big boys in the AHL but Gadjovich is basically an immovable rock once he posts up around the net.

Severtson also highlighted Gadjovich’s passing as a sneaky, underrated component of his toolkit.

“There were dozens of times last season where he’d perfectly backhand a pass through traffic from behind the net to an open man, only for them to completely whiff on the golden opportunity,” Severtson said. “Now that he’s been moved up the lineup, he’s been the designated shooter and hasn’t had to flex that playmaking muscle as much. But, we do get it in spurts and I’m always pretty impressed that it’s objectively a ‘scrapper’ making these plays.”

All of this is encouraging but his skating has long been the big question mark. Has it improved?

Severtson said Gadjovich’s straight-line speed, once he’s picked up steam, has substantially improved. Here’s one example where Gadjovich (No. 21 in the clip below) gains pace to effectively hunt down a loose puck.

That doesn’t look too shabby and to the naked eye, he might not immediately stand out as having slot feet. Unfortunately, there’s a lot more to skating than just straight-line speed once you’re in full flight. What’s more important is the acceleration out of your starts and stops, and this is where concerns still linger.

“Where his skating is at its worst is when he is tasked with switching from the rush to instead engage in one-on-one puck battles in open space,” Severtson said. “His first few strides from a stationary position are very clunky. His stride looks very labour-intensive, and as such, his backchecking efforts suffer for it.”

The backchecking and defensive side of the game is where this weakness will prove most challenging for his NHL success. Gadjovich is smart and works hard defensively but he does get beat and caught high up the ice from time to time because of his mobility. For this reason, he’s likely going to need to be sheltered at even strength.

“I’d love to see the foot speed improve enough to comfortably project him to take a regular shift, but it’s still not quite there,” Robinson said.

Robinson and Severtson agreed that Gadjovich could still potentially help the Canucks but it’s going to need to be in a niche role as a hard-nosed power-play specialist who’s likely sheltered at even-strength.

“I’m actually in the minority where I think he could carve out a unique role,” Robinson said. “A guy who can net-front your power-play (maybe even top) but play limited minutes at evens.”

This deployment style could be similar to the way the Canucks used Tyler Graovac at times last year. Vancouver liked Graovac’s big body but thought he was a tad slow so he was sheltered in the bottom-six and then chipped in with a couple of goals on the second power-play unit. Gadjovich is faster and has a more defined skill set than Graovac — they’re obviously different players and the bar isn’t that low — but it’s a window into one way the team might be able to use him. And, of course, if his skating improves, it will only bolster his five-on-five game.

In this Canucks bottom-six, Gadjovich probably won’t look out of place. He has an unimpeachable work rate and is a robust physical presence.

The key for him to stick with the big club long term is he’ll need to lean on his offensive ability as a selling point for his identity. Because while Gadjovich is physical and tough, he doesn’t have the wheels to disrupt plays and retrieve the puck to fit the grinder role the way players such as Tyler Motte, Matthew Highmore and Jayce Hawryluk do. He’ll need to show that he can deliver offence at the NHL level at some point, otherwise it’ll be easy for a coaching staff to go, “Well, if you can’t score, use your feet to get the puck back or defend at a high level, what do you add?”

Gadjovich has 28 goals in 57 AHL games spanning the past two seasons, a 40-goal pace over 82 games. He’s earned this shot and it’s going to be exciting to see if he can add something new to the bottom-six.

You don't think she uses the fact she's a famous female twitch streamer to hook up with someone or get something. It's human nature or should I say greed.

I watch twitch and know of the female streamer. Her name is Amouranth. She does a lot of this on her streams...

Now the story is getting interesting. Jake DM’ed her which was stupid because she’s known to be a bit toxic. She then sells Jake’s DMs on Patreon and trashes him on Twitter.

She is now suspended for breaking Twitch CoC.

To be honest, they both deserve each other as they are perfect examples of the “me generation”.

Lol it's even sad when a player who would almost be guaranteed a spot next year, doesnt even want to leave Russia to play on the team.

It's getting more and more difficult to see how people defend the man. It's just one (frank) up after another.. and they're not all big (frank)ups, Tryamkin isn't breaking down doors... but it's still mismanagement over and over again

As much as I sh*t on JB, my take on Tryamkin is that he feels he's better than the team. I don't think he's a fit in a city without a large Russian community.

The concern is JB continuing to wait as long as he can to sign players, it hasn't worked well for him.

Play the kids and make changes after the season.
