If these allegations hold up, It seems like a stretch to blame anyone else for this beyond JV.

There are a lot of arrogant wieners in the NHL who are entitled and lazy. Not all of them sexually assault women.. that we know of, anyways. I mean... not worth diving into but I'm sure some of them actually do/have.

If these allegations are true, ya, at the end of the day it's his actions and his alone. The organization could have/should have done more – and realistically steered away from him from the get go.

I just thinks it’s weird to condemn a kid for partying when single in his teens and early 20s. I don’t think that should be a knock against someone’s character or imply he’s a bad apple.

Of course this does not condone any kind of abuse.
That is where things cross the line and are clearly problematic.
I just think you can be an immature kid and party and have consensual hook ups and be ok.

Because if you're getting sexual misconduct allegations levied against you, there's obviously more than just partying don't you think? Most single people in their teens and early 20s aren't NHL hockey players and don't have to worry about playing the next day or showing up to training camp in shape or have the spotlight shined on them 24/7 because they're by definition public figures. It means you need to be even more cognizant of yourself and your behaviour. Clearly Jake doesn't have it in him to do so, so yes, that's a knock on his character and further because the organization has kept him for so long KNOWING that fact, it's a knock against them for doing so.

Sure, at the end of the day, it's Jake's mess and he needs to be accountable for it but at the same time the organization has to share the blame for enabling him by giving him chance after chance and not sending a message that his behaviour is unnacceptable. Sure he's been benched and scratched, but I've never heard of him being fined or suspended by the team itself for breaching any of their rules. Other leagues and teams have done so to players that have shown this much immaturity and bad judgement, why didn't the Canucks?

Virtanen Is Innocent until proven guilty so why are the Canucks already defending the possible victim and not there own employee. THIS IS WRONG.

Yes.
Rape allegations are different than partying. Obviously.

I was referring to the assumption that if you’re not a clean cut Horvat or McDavid then you somehow have character flaws that you can’t grow and/or mature out of.

I think that’s incorrect, if that is what you were implying.

I think you would have a point if it was isolated to just partying and drinking. There has been so many other issues

There's a difference between someone who is just immature at 18-19-20 and someone at 25. The younger can be forgiven for wanting to experience the good life after being drafted and achieving their dreams, but the vast majority all realize REAL QUICK that to be successful in the NHL you need to be in top condition 24/7 or at the very least most of the time. Most players learn that a year or two in the league and adjust really quickly and don't screw up to the degree Virtanen has and if they do, they don't get chance after chance after chance when it's clear they just don't get it. That's why I'm saying.

They're not defending the possible victim they are defending themselves because if they don't take action they'll be the ones looking bad, you know Jake is still getting his paycheque for just sitting while they investigate it. Cancelling his twitter account does look bad.

There are screenshots of him sending private messages to a female twitch streamer from Dallas, saying the next time he's in Dallas that they should hang out, and that he's a pro NHLer, or "does my name ring a bell " It was disgusting.

Trying to use your name and status an NHL player as clout to try and score with a famous female twitch streamer?

One could make the argument that if a kid has "game", he probably doesn't need to lead a conversation or try and convince a woman to hang out with him without having to name his occupation, or try and see if his "famous" name rings a bell..

99.9% of the players in the league don't get sexual misconduct allegations leveled against them.
