I have a Bernese/Newfie mix...

Edit: For what its worth, I'm relatively young and want to travel

- UsernameUnknown

My sister has a Newfie/poodle. He’s enormous and smart all at the same time. He’s actually a really cool looking dog too.

Ah so I’m actually really interested in this. I always wanted a Bernese and had to move out to get mine, which was fair enough. But I also love Newfies. What’s the mix like?

My girl is turning 6 and is starting to look a bit old. I’ve had smaller longer living dogs my whole life, so I’ve been really sad even seeing a slight hitch in her getup.

Bernese dogs live on average of 6-8 or 7-9 depending upon where you look.

- RickJames77

Love Bernese. Colouring is really reverse of Great Pyrs.

Yeah 7-9 average though some go longer.

My pup got 8.5. (frank) cancer.

Actually got in ine more leaf game before the end and came home in time for tonights game. Go figure.

Just enjoy the time ya get

This is goals, not how many Richards you've taken in a night.

The mix is great, honestly. She's definitely got traits of both. She's got mild anxiety with strangers (some but not all with absolutely no discernable pattern as to which ones she'll decide to like.) And dogs too, but warms up to them pretty quickly. That's pretty common with Bernese, although I will admit to probably not socializing her enough as a pupper.
I can count on one hand the amount of times she's ever barked. And of course she loves the water.
She's turning 4 and has the perfect energy level right now. She still gets puppy spirts which i enjoy. We play tag and tuf of war around the house all the time. And loves her 30ish minute walk (it'd probably only take 10 if she actually moved her ass.)
The bigger ones definitely do get older faster I really hope mine gets to see 10+ but she's healthy so far!

She looks all Newf though, except a thinner nose/jowl like the Bernese. But all black, no brown at all.

I have a st bernard who turns 5 at the end of May. I'm not looking forward to as she approaches her middle ages.

Either on that blanketless 1 inch strip at the end of the bed, or more likely on top of her.

I've used her head as a pillow on more than one occasion.

Newfies are dumb as their namesakes.

Poodles are great dogs and incredibly intelligent. That's a tossup if you'd get smart as a whip or drooling when you're brushing your teeth because they think you're eating stupid.

My franking dog wants to sleep horizontally across the bottom of the bed.

FFS, if she would just sleep vertically, we would all get a good sleep.

Thanks for this description. It’s now an option for me, when necessary. I just love my Berner. I can’t even believe I’m already worried about her and she’s not even 6.

Mine would curl up in the middle at the bottom but use my leg as a damn pillow. Wake up to pins and needles and not feeling your foot 🤣

There’s a Newfie in my dog park, which allows me to make hilarious Canadian geography jokes when my Labrador is there.

But holy frank, that’s too much dog for me.

Male or female Newfie?

I’d have a female Newfie no problem.

I also have 100lb berner so...

Thanks for asking. I could talk about her all day. Nothing but smiles, love, drool, and hair.
It's crazy to see how fast they grow up. It's a weird concept to get an animal in its infancy and have it be old after 10 years.
Especially when you're used to them lasting 15+ with the smaller breeds. Just enjoy the good years, man. Sometimes the life span can make you appreciate them that much more.
