Male or female Newfie?

I’d have a female Newfie no problem.

- RickJames77

Male.

A few years ago, there was a family on the team I coached. The mom was an assistant.

We were chatting one day, and she said they were getting a puppy. Their kids had talked them into it - neither parent had ever had one.

“What kind are you getting?”

“A Great Dane.”

After I stopped laughing, she said they did the research, and it was a good fit.

Helluva introduction to pet ownership, but it worked out fine.

There’s a Newfie in my dog park, which allows me to make hilarious Canadian geography jokes when my Labrador is there.

But holy frank, that’s too much dog for me.

- Atomic Wedgie

They're truly massive. Especially the males. I got "lucky" in the sense that a lot of factors made my girl pretty small. Female, half bernese, which are big but smaller than Newfs, and the runt of the litter all made an impact. She's only 85lbs. Originally I wanted a St. Bernard, but have learned I'm probably too small to handle one. 85 is solid

Labs are a lot of fun too. Basically as long as it's not a chihuahua or a jack russell, you have yourself a good dog.

Friends of ours have 2. Just got a puppy because the older won is closing in on 11.

She is massive but really cool. I think they call them apartment dogs because they don’t need a lot of exercise and are super lazy (could be wrong) but they lean like crazy. You’ll be standing in the kitchen and they’ll come in for a back rub and just start pushing you into the wall because they’re a 170lbs.

Mid-1990s.

I’m in an outdoor equipment/clothing store in Vancouver. I’m looking at technical jackets.

A hot saleswoman walks up and we start chatting.

I’m flirting hard.

She’s flirting back.

Wedgie is slaying it.

“Nice Tibet t-shirt,” she says. “Did you go trekking there?”

“Ummm,no, I’ve never been. My parents bought it for me when they were trekking there.”

I collected my shattered manhood off the floor, and quietly slunk away.

If you want a dog almost exactly like a great dane but in a smaller body, just get a greyhound.

15 years ago, there was a greyhound rescue in our dogpark.

I loved that dog because he would lean on you in the winter.

He was a warm doggie.

I guess one Flames victory against the Oilers this week will have to do.

He doesn’t look like captain material. I’d wait till he is 26 before we have this discussion.

Solid dog choice even for beginners. Just large.

Oilers look so fast, and I’m always thinking the Leafs would have trouble keeping up, until they actually play the Leafs. Weird.

Mins is 125 right now. Vet wants her to lose another 5 but she isn't so bad lol. She can pull though. She enjoys seeing other dogs on the walks we take so she pulls a bit. No one else will walk her lol

1 is more than we can expect.

Calgary and Vancouver are horrible teams. Winnipeg seems on their way to joining them.

One of them used to pull me across the field at the park while I was wearing my super slider snow skates.

From Kristen Shilton tweet:

Sheldon Keefe update on Justin Holl after he left tonight's game:

"He's bloody."

Said Holl was in the room after the game and joking around. But as far as how he is medically, Keefe didn't know any further.
