No, it wasn't sarcasm. My bad for not realizing that he has an assist on a totally meaningless goal in a 4-0 game! Congrats to him! I think it's pretty clear the way Ghost is looked at around the league when 30 other GMs passed on him when he could have been had for nothing. Oh, almost forgot to offer my congrats to the team for playing their first May game since 2012!!!

You are aware teams have openly spoke they aren’t interested in adding salary. Along with the fact that good teams can’t simple add a 4.5 million dollar contract mid season. Ghost has two more years left on his deal I believe. Are you aware of this?

The only reach was done by yourself.

So in other words, you have nothing because I’m offering you the numbers from a few seasons back, which were by far his worst defensive seasons. Tell me more of this 65 point expectation in a 56 point season.

I started thinking about why AV has seemed incapable of reversing the negative trends all season until they have now reached historically bad levels. This seems puzzling considering the coaching success he had last season and in prior NHL campaigns. But last season Hart was outstanding in net. In Van and NY he had HOFers Luongo and Lunqvist in net. They say goaltending can make a coach look like a genius or an incompetent. Is it possible that AV is mediocre at best and incapable of winning without All Star performances in goal? I hope not but after witnessing this season I’m not so sure.

BLASPHEMY!!! He has taken two teams to the SCF and won a Jack Adams trophy!! The least of this team's issues is with the coaching staff; I mean, cf unequivocally told the world that coaching is not an issue and that no coaching staff member will be replaced.

Do not EVER -- EVER question the coaching chops of Alain Vigneault again.

Been going through the motions for a decade. It's a disgrace. The fact they don't care that they are laughing stocks is sickening.

I’ve said everything that needed to be said....I’m not going to keep repeating the facts of the case. Your arguments are dumb.

Thanks for setting me straight. The mind starts to wonder when things get really bad. I’m firmly back on the Alain train.

I'm well aware, but the fact remains that someone would have bit on that contract if he was made available a couple of years ago, but now the rest of the league is aware of his major shortcomings and the fact that he is way overpaid for what he brings to a team now. That's why I wanted him traded 2 years ago and why I also wanted Voracek traded. These 2 guys are a major part of the soft regime of this team and I've had it. The only way that they can trade either one now is probably by eating some salary.

The only arguments you’ve made is you expect a 65 point season for Ghost, which would be impossible this season and he’s having a bad defensive season, which he has bad defensive seasons every season. If you don’t see the flaw in your posts and can’t make a strong argument in return, thats the real stupidity here.

No, you’re clearly not aware. Nobody can bite on a heavy salary with term if they wanted to at this moment unless it comes into the form of a trade. Teams have to prepare for the coming expansion draft and the fact the cap may not be going up.

I wonder how many points mcdavid would have of he played us 8 times a year. If zebanijad(ap?) Lot us up for double digits then CM and LD would have feasted on the incompetence of this team

I know he is playing in a poopy canadian only league but he is scoring like he is playing against OHL level talent

Why can't we have something nice like mcdavid or leon?

Oh wait.... we are The city of brotherly mediocrity

I've never said you can't find great players picking 14-23 every year, buy you gotta be in it to win it for those generational talents.

Oh I'm sorry if you thought I was saying you expected those numbers. My apologies if so...
What I am saying is that you can't get a mcdavid or a leon or a mckinnon without a top pick. The odds of finding that type player in the range we discussed is as likely as winning the mega millions. There will be some good talent at that range of picks but it's very unlikely
There are even some solid drafts out of the second and third round, too but no one that will change the face of a franchise
This team always falls into that realm of mediocrity level picks and when we did have a good draft selection we got morin and o'brien and even our #2 pick may be damaged beyond repair... Poor kid

To do this, you need to have at least 1 of 2 things:

1. Salary cap space to take on/sign the superstar
2. Enough picks/prospects to trade for the superstar.

Likely you need both. This means you have to be content to chug along for a few years in the middle of the first round or better (from perspective of draft) and avoid making signings like JVR and Hayes or before that, the resigning of Voracek.

This is not gonna happen. This franchise was built on expectations of the pre-salary cap age, where we could throw money and get a talented team most years. Fans don't have the patience, organization can't say FU to the fans.

They will likely resign Couts and Roo. Hayes will stay of course. You cannot have those 3 players being critical components of your first 2 lines. The talent just isn't there. But with new faces, new players and some maturing, there will be 5-10 game winning streaks, fans will forget the current perspective, and there will be accusations of being on "Team Negative" and so on.

Until, eventually, the yearly reckoning comes around this time every year. The rest is irrelevant detail.

I prefer to refer to team negative by their other name. Team realistic. There are a lot of negatives to this team right now.

You answered your own question.

Instead of resigning those guys you move them at any cost and to a total tear-down we should have done in the first place.

Seriously. Where did all the Kool-Aid boys go the last month or two. Even they can’t spin the pile of dogpoop this franchise has become.

Thats twice the production of Nolan. Ghost is part of a vastly underperforming team, that had a good record until March but were not playing well as proven by an overwhelming disparity in shots for and against. They've had severe issues with puck control leading to inopportune turnovers since the very beginning of the season. Not a single player or coach should be spared severe criticism. AV says he knows what is causing at least the most recent issues, but is not dicussing them. They cannot remove all of the players, apparently the coaches are all safe as stated by CF. Its time...at the end of the season...for team ownership to make a strong statement that this type of performance will not be accepted ever again. The talent on this team is not as bad as the level they have demonstrated. They may not be grest, but they should not lose 4 straight to the Devils or lose as they have since March. Someone or several someones need to be held accountable!
