gaudette stats wise gets a ton of High. danger chnaces. this year those did not go in but it he was stilling getting them at a high rate. look at hagel early in the year he was getting a ton of HD chances that did not go in. now they are falling. it will be a really interesting off season. gaudette kampf strome only 1 of those guys can get protected. maybe you seattle to take dehaan or Connely in a trade if you leave strome unprotected. or maybe you offer the same thing with ZAD. I wonder if there has been any discussions on extentions for Lankeiin or subban. lets say one of them agrees to extend after july 1st for 2 more years at $1 to $1.25? and you agree to protect that one. they numbers are both really more AVG then anything. stillman might get taken as well. did not know Suter has ARB rights. |

Well looks like full on tank is were we should be now .Good season some pleasant surprises Hagel Lankinen Kalynuck I think Gaudette could be a nice player if given a chance
Maybe the HAWKS get lucky again this year in the draft and move up get a shot at Powers or Clark .Chayka Bolduc Lucius are a coule players on the radar for me . Slow and steady is the way a couple more years of building blocks in place .
I thought Sharpie did a great job last night his future is bright . - oldduffman
He's been okay but personally I'd like to see him after 30 or 60 total games in a Hawk sweater rather than the 30 minutes of TOI he's had.
Call me skeptical but he is playing for a contract and he could be playing a "trade-bounce" too.

Forsling a 5th round draft choice was traded to Chicago for Adam Clendening, it is not like he was a Hawk draft choice. - LAHawk
But don’t you think we should blame Bowman for everything we can? |

Ya it is a small sample size but I remember hating him playing the HAWKS 5 Games 3 pts 9 pim 7 hits gritty guy with some speed and pretty good hands I will take him over some we have now . |

Yup, lets not forget about that Q kept trotting out TVR over Forsling and Kempny at the time. |

There's to much thought going into who the Hawks may lose in the expansion draft. Maybe based on this post I am guilty too. Lol.
Goalie - Lankinen will be protected. He's been playing the majority of games and it's obvious JC (and Stan) think he gives them the better chance to win night in and night out. It won't be the end of the world if Subban gets selected. The Hawks can find a journeyman cheap backup goalie to replace him.
Defense - Protect Keith, Murphy and Stillman. Expose and possibly lose deHaan and Z. No big loss. Don't want either of them back on the team next season if not selected? Don't QO Z and let him walk. Yeah Stan looks bad losing the Saad trade but don't compound the loss by overpaying him or bribing Seattle with an asset to take him. deHaan could be the 6-7D next year.
Forward. I'd protect Toews, Kane, Cat, Hagel, Borgstom and two of Strome/Kampf/Nylander/Gaudette/ (if he continues to play good games like yesterday). Connolly and Carp exposed. If Nylander exposed would Seattle risk taking him coming off his injury?
Supposedly some teams looking for a forward who have played the minimum games to be exposed. Maybe Hawks trade one of the four who would be among their 6th or 7th protected to get something in return. |

Forsling didn’t replace Ekblad, they went out and got Montour to replace Ekblad. - LAHawk
Montour wasn’t brought in to “replace” Ekblad, other than being a rightie who can fire the puck. Weegar played the left side when playing with Ekblad. Weegar moved over to the right (Ekblad’s spot) and Forsling filled Weegar’s place on the left side.
Forsling would be playing regular minutes even if Ekblad wasn’t out. They traded for Nuutivarra, and grabbed Juulsen off waivers, and then snagged Forsling when he became available on waivers from Carolina’s stacked D. He missed some games with injury, and Q was trying to give everyone some games early in the season. Forsling steadily rose above the other two new additions. Since Ekblad went out Forsling has played very well on the top pair with Weegar. He’s been a valuable part of the Panthers team all season.
Im guessing it was clown prince Yandle who tagged him with the nickname, but apparently they’ve started calling him Bobby Forrsling. |

I should of said Montour was brought in to replace Ekblad’s roster spot. There seems to be this narrative on this board that Florida picked up Forsling because Q knew how good he would be because of his time in Chicago, which you so aptly point out was not the case. Good for Forsling to finally establishing himself. |

True, but there was enough there to make Q agree to adding him to the roster. Forsling has taken the steps to earn his ice time. Still a small sample size, but he’s everything FL fans thought Matheson would be. |

I would protect Connelly or Gaudette and Strome.
Because expansion team is not likely to take a defensive 4th center. And we gamble they shy away from Nylander coming off injury. Strome I dislike but has some value if we trade him or as one of our centers depending upon Toews, Borgstrom, draft or if we trade for a center. McLaughlin is a darkhorse and is on an AHL contract. |

I like that you said that. He didn’t work out in Chicago and he made the adjustments or put the work in to earn an NHL spot. No reason to dislike Forsling for that or to overlook that fact to blame Bowman for not keeping him in Chicago. |

This is utter balderdash. He should be despised for not finding it here. And Stan should be tarred and feathered for not seeing years out that it would happen.
No reason for dislike? (frank)ing embarrassing..... |

Agreed. There is not one player that the Hawks expose that they will miss.
Those players exposed can all be easily replaced either with cheaper versions or better players.

Really looking forward to tomorrow's game at Carolina to see their defense to compare it to the 'Hawks D.
How much further do the 'Hawks need to develop? Can they learn from Carolina?
Also, taking icing when clearing the zone is NOT a death sentence and it sure as heck beats failing to clear the zone. |

Maybe next season ? Well they better find coaching the can teach them defense, passing, covering their man. The game stats seem to be the same after every game. No progress yet. |

None, other than they were better then last year with more rookies worked into the lineup and while missing two of their best players for most of the season. |

Fair enough and I don’t blame you. But aside from this season Gaudette has performed well at every level. Things weren’t great in Vancouver either, he wasn’t the only forward to slump. I don’t think he’s more than a bottom 6 forward, and that’s not guaranteed. But the potential is certainly there if the Hawks use him right. |

Protect two among Connelly, Gaudette, Strome.
Nylander off surgery gamble they pass
If they would draft Kampf that is ok. What expansion team drafts a defensive 4th line.
Although I dislike Strome for several reasons, until we see what the storyline on Toews and Borgstrom, we may need him. Sign McLaughlin; possibly a trade or draft a center are options too. But I am not too excited about some of the many centers and trades are unpredictable for us to guess. Sooner Strome goes the better though. |

I for one need more information on this Junior Showcase event. Acually sounds like a series of games.
But how are the players going to be in top shape? Who pays if injuries?
Would the ratings change more for kids presently in mid rounds or omitted? Wiz can fill us in.
The Junior Showcase is an unique concept put.into the "realm of reality" by a few junior players. Story at The Athletic site. |

Hope I'm wrong but it will be a Hawks death sentence I'm afraid. Pitiful defense. |
